Takin’ the Rest of the Week Off…Continued

Joe’s Café & Coffee Early Morning ©2008 New Codgers

Previously: “So,” Carl asked, totally changing the subject, “When are you gonna take the training wheels off?”

Fred Peterson & Carl McIntyre were again today already at the counter of proud Czech Josef Rusicka’s “Joe’s Café & Coffee” when I arrived this fine, seasonally normal (+16ºF, +9ºF adjusted for wind chill) Saint Paul, Minnesota morning! They were both enjoying their Danger Bay Collectible Mugs of organically & shade-grown, fair trade, Rusicka-blend coffee, with Joe, as always hovering with a carafe of this fine elixir of the morning to refill the mugs as needed to get our brains firing on all synapses.

“So far—so good,” I answered grabbing my place at the counter.

“So, then, about AR,” Carl continuing his interrogation, asked, “What did you decide?”

“I posted notice of our immediate departure from the site,” I replied, “To concentrate on building this one.”

“Completely?”

“There are some,” I said, placing my mug on the counter, “Lenn, for example, who don’t have independent blogs, those I will visit, along with our friends’ independent blogs. I’m also going to search out Saint Paul blogs to visit, and position us with the local blogging community to compliment our national exposure.”

“Not to change the subject, BUT—how far you get on that ‘honeydo’ list?” Fred asked, “Will it be safe for you when the ol’ lady gets home?”

“It’s MY list, Fred,” I replied with feigned irritation—know full good and well I was being razzed, “and, I’ll be in better shape than you, ‘causeMN 32 Star US Flag ©2008 New Codgers she reads this blog!

“You’re not gonna quote me,” Fred asked, fearing the worst, “are you?”

“Yep,” I replied, a wide smile crinkling my face, “you betcha!”

Crap! I think I’m going on vacation myself—until the heat is off,” Fred quickly concluded.

“A very looong vacation, Fred,” Carl added, “very long, indeed.”

  1. I was happy to see you pop up in my feed reader this morning! (Liking that thing already!)

I have been found and accepted by some local bloggers. I appreciate their kind links and am already benefiting from them. I think I’d like to write a post about who the locals are in my blogroll to maybe send them a little more traffic. Sometimes just seeing a name doesn’t make you want to click, but if you have an endorsement and a little more info, maybe that would make the difference.

  2. Sarah: My blogroll needs work, but I’ve been updating my feed reader. Leaving the rain forced me to MAKE SURE that friends (clique members? LOL!) are on the reader.
I’m always happy when you stop by! (Jay said I would be–the ol’ coot was right!)

  3. I guess I’m going to have to check out this feed reader thing.

It’s funny, I call Steve my “old man” and I’m his “old lady” but thats the way it’s put in our world. However, when I’m speaking with the sr scientist from Woods Hole MA I can’t use that term. Tell T it’s a term of endearment!

My coffee cup is here YAY! It is too kewl! Midori wants to know if I’m officially a codger, I told her I’m officially a Danger Bay charater :) She loves it too by the way!

  4. Lysa: The “ol’ lady” is having a blast at Inman! She’s sharing a room with Krystal, and hanging with Krystal & Linda/Carnac! For an RE pro–could it get any better? Enjoy that mug–and check out the new mug. No rush, the “Daisy Mug” will be around a while.

  5. It makes me smile that grown men are afraid of little T. When does she get back?

Please leave your AR posts up. I can visit ten of them a day and get my comment points in. LOL Truthfully, I haven’t been as active there lately. It’s losing it’s gleam for me as well.

How’s Jay and how can I get in touch with him? I’d like him to know I think of him =)

  6. Maggie: T will return Friday night. I just spoke with her on the phone–she’s having breakfast with Linda/Carnac–what fun!
Jay is okay–still on his motor home trip with his son and having a ball. He lost his cell (figures–he once lost a camera while taking a photo trip to the North Shore ;-) ), and uses his son’s phone for his calls to me, and I don’t have that number. He will replace it when they reach “civilization” as he calls it. I haven’t heard from him in a day or so.

  7. Daisy Mugs???? Bow-Wow!! Give Jay my best too, I remember the camera disaster :)

  8. Lysa: Yep, my Alpha-Jack made me my OWN mug featuring my own mug!
    Bow-Woo!

  9. Dang — I missed the Daisy Mug!! How do I get one?? Spill!

  10. Sarah: The mug replaced the Danger Bay Mug–now at the Chandlery–click and see!

  11. I’ve been dying to go to one of those blogger connects – but no one is willing to keep my 3 kids. I just saw a video (in the box) featuring Teresa and Jeff Turner drinking beer – I’m jealous (not for the beer).

The local linking is super important and it feels so good when one of the uber-local blogs picks up one of my posts – so it’s only right to return the favor (but not immediately, it makes it too obvious).

None of my local links are real estate related – so go and get creative!

  12. Ines: I sent a link to that video to T–she hadn’t seen it yet. I took vacation this week because I was not comfortable leaving Daisy in her cage (kennel) for more than 8 hours (she would likely just sleep). Daisy is high-spirited and still a bit of a trouble-maker, and is not completely trustworthy having the run of the house. I did not accompany T to Inman because we felt it would be better to wait until sometime when we both could go as tourists. We are contemplating a visit to Connecticut later this year, specifically to visit Weathersfield where my Immigrant Ancestor’s (arrived in 1638) home still stands (and not very far from where Carnac prognosticates). Daisy would go to a boarding kennel and get to play with fellow dog-people while we are gone.

  13. Daisy, I love the mug! And, when your dog people go to CT you can come to FL and visit me!

  14. Lysa: Daisy sleeps at the moment. Yep–Florida is almost next door to Connecticut! ;-)
