So—we quickly made our way to my stateroom (well, Alpha-Jack’s stateroom), and decided we had enough adventures for this day.

We took a nap!

“You want Pepper to do what?” Sarah asked with concern, “I don’t know if I like this at all. He just got here!”

But I WANT do this Alpha-Sarah!” arroofed Pepper, “Daisy and I want to do what we can, right Daisy?”

Bow-Woo!” Daisy bayed, “…I mean…yes we do!”

You…you…can talk?” a very surprised Sarah exclaimed.

“Is this yet another vision?” a startled Hiram asked.

Doggie Danger Bay—Episode 2, Part I: (With this episode I am required by my Alpha-Jack to write in the third dogperson—go figure—but he DID bribe me with a dog-treat—Daisy)

“No people-dog Hiram,” Daisy arfed in reply, “you really are understanding dogspeak, and we can understand peoplespeak.”

“This is so cool!” Pepper woofed, “Where are my Beta-Ones? I have sooo much I want to say to them.”

“Awww Pepper,” people-dog Sarah replied, “Your Real World Beta-Ones aren’t here, but they’ll get to read of your adventures.”

“Okay you two,” people-dog Boomer said, “You’d best prepare for your mission to Danger Bay.”

“Sure, Alpha-Jack,” Daisy replied, with just a hint of irony in her bark, “I’ll just go pack a change of fur—Bow-Woo!”

With that, the companions left to do their planning. They went directly to people-dog Mac’s galley hoping to score a meal—plans are best made on a full tummy!

“You knew we were coming?” ©2008 New CodgersThe galley was dark when the pooches arrived, no matter to them as of course their noses led them where they needed to be. They soon arrived at the source of the scent of people-food, having zeroed in on it to the exclusion of all other scents…

Suddenly the lights came on!

I’ve been expecting you,” a familiar voice rumbled, surprising and I might add, embarrassing them both (dog-people don’t like being surprised when they think they’re being sneaky), “You’ll find your bowls filled with my best cuts of sirloin.”

People-dog Mac!” Daisy bayed, “You knew we were coming?”

“Of course,” people-dog Mac replied, “How else would dog-people prepare for a dangerous mission? Oops, I’m forgetting my manners—very pleased to meet you, Pepper, your Alpha-Sarah has told me all about you.”

All?” Pepper woofed, sounding a little worried.

“Nothing bad,” people-dog Mac laughed, “Now eat-up you two, you must leave soon.”

And they did just that! After eating, they went for a final visit to their respective alpha-people for some petting and behind-the-ears-scratching—just what a dog-person needs at a time like this.

They met atop the pilothouse a too-short time later, and found“Godspeed, little friends” ©2008 New Codgers people-dogs Pettigrew, Mac, Alpha-Sarah & Alpha-Jack waiting to send them on their way.

“I want you to have these,” people-dog Pettigrew said as he placed blue knit caps on Pepper & Daisy’s heads, “These watch-caps are what we wore when we went on special operations missions in the Navy—they’ll bring you good luck.”

The canines accepted the gifteven though they didn’t need the warmth—and really didn’t have the people-concept of “luck.” They were fussed over by their alpha-people, and gladly accepted the attention.

“Godspeed, little friends,” people-dog Sarah said, with a hint of a tear in her eye.

And just like that, they were gone—on their way to the village of Danger Bay on the Big Lake!“just like that, they were gone.” ©2008 New Codgers
