This our celebration of and is the 1,000th post to this blog, The Port of Danger Bay, Minnesota.
The blog was originally named Our Saint Paul, and the first post was published, July 8, 2007.
One of the hallmarks of this blog is the inclusion of real people as characters. They kindly lend their likeness and sense of humor to this blog.
Current IRL Characters: Sarah Cooper, Susie Blackmon, Carl McIntyre, Chris Shouse and Larry Yatkowski with occasional appearances by Erik Hare.
Alumni IRL Characters: Ines Hegedus-Garcia, Lysa Napolitano, Bob Carney, Dale Chumbley, Bill Lublin, Jeff Turner, and our first-ever IRL Character: Maggie Dokic, who first appeared May 5, 2007 in the old Active Rain series Codger Melodramas© & Codger Corners and continued as the Mayor of the Port of Danger Bay.
Two very special friends made a limited appearance each as characters and writers on this blog, as they showed us their home areas:
Linda Davis took us on a tour of the sights near Gales Ferry, Connecticut:
Lenn Harley took us fishing in the Chesapeake Bay area:
For your enjoyment, GENTLE READERS, some then and now illustrations:

It has been one heck of a ride, so far…and a whole lot of fun. My thanks to everyone who has participated in our stories, and to all the GENTLE READERS for keeping me motivated to write my cheesy fiction!
Feel free to Hijack the COMMENTS & GRAB A MUGFULL!

I love seeing the original cafe…congratulations Boomer! It definitely takes me back. I’ve a hankering for some of that really good coffee about now……
Oh…I should insert a refreshment station.
Today is also National Day of the Cowboy. What a perfect day to celebrate post #1,000 – - now, where is my mount? (I mean Josie!)
Congratulations!
She and Pal are off by themselves somewhere in 1873.
Woo Hoo Jack and The Port of Danger Bay! Love seeing these original graphics with the current ones. I remember following these way back in the AR days when many of us started there.
By the way, I sure hope you included some nice ice cold beverages at your refreshment station you mentioned above……
[___]D <<for you and [___] << for me
Joe’s Cafe & Coffee has water, OJ, and all manner of refreshments available at all times.
Congrats Jack..your doing a fine job and great to be a tiny part of your gang! Good morning..keep the brews coming!
You brought us “Alice.” She was/is a GREAT contribution to this blog!
I love that Alice is part of this place! AR-ROOO!!!!
Hey…Wait! You weren’t supposed to start until 0430hours!
I woke up early. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Congratulations and well done to all involved. I know it’s coming from a part-time n00b but here’s to the next 1000 C|___|***clink***|___|D …..
Hello Paul. I can’t help but notice you’re firing on all SYNAPSE. Cheers C|___|::clink::|___|D
Wow we have come a long way!
I sometimes forget our roots. It was really fun to go back not only here, but Active Rain as well.
Congratulations, Jack! I remember way back when Maggie first appeared in Danger Bay — what a shock to see real people pulled into cyberworld! But wait, these were people I already knew online, so it almost seemed natural once I thought about it. And of course PepperCooper took right to it. Dogs are awesome that way.
Thanks Sarah. You’ve been a big part of this blog over it’s entire history. THANK YOU!
I’m glad to know you, always an adventure!
Another 1000 posts will be great…here is to you Boomer and to the others that contribute to such a wonderful place!
You Chris, have made many of your own contributions including some pretty good story ideas!
I’m hungry…….
Me too! Maybe we can get Josef to fix us a nice BIG breakfast!
Yum – that would be awesome! I’ll be waiting at the table for whatever comes our way for breakfast! Napkin already in my lap…..
I see only one little problem…Josef is NOT an IRL character and can’t comment here. We MIGHT have to rustle up our own grub. Darn it!
Carl! Where did you go?
I was eating breakfast…if that’s okay with you!
Mmmmmm! Breakfast! Okay–works for me.
Hi Peopledog BigMac! AR-ROOO!!!
I’m here! AR-ROOOO!
Congratulations!
One of the FEW PLACES where a snarky dog is unleashed to reply to comments! AR-ROOO!!!
Take a nap, Beaglebreath!
Thanks Maureen, It’s been a lot of fun to write here.
Your talent and creativity is amazing! Thank you, Jack. I’m so glad you share with your readers your skills and provide many laughs along the way
Congrats on your 1,000th post //HUG
Thank you Kim! It keeps me [mostly] out of trouble.
Just keep having fun… that’s what it’s all about. /sung like Hokey Pokey
Collie & I have to get back on the road to reach our stopover for tonight on time to register. I estimate three hours of so and I’ll be back.
Safe trip! We’ll be off to the Downtowner/Woodfire soon as well. I’m sure someone will hijack the comments in our absence.
Hi Im here to save the day with Fresh Warm Apple Cake for the party!
Wonderful!!! And I’m off for a Real World breakfast! Back later.
Congrats on 1000 Boomer! That’s quite the accomplishment!
Thanks John.
Yall have a fine day..keep the blog rollin rollin rollin keep them critters rollin
ENJOY!
Boomer congratulations on this achievement! 1,000 posts is no small feat. It’s been an honor to be part of it.
Nancy, thanks for the warm apple cake. Yum!
Now, if I’d only known downtown Danger Bay was going to develop so quickly I would have been the exclusive real estate broker instead of the Mayor!
Speaking of “small feats” check out that Gravitar!
I kind of miss the old Codger Lodge and Codger Corners. Thanks for stopping by, Maggie!
Boomer, somehow I knew you wouldn’t pass up an opportunity for a pun. Well done!
Leave ‘em dangling…too much to resist!
Congrats! This is always great stuff – and proof that the blog world has room for some truly unique expression. This is exactly what we need a lot more of just for the fun of it!
Thanks Erik. Someone else somewhere else may just be doing this same thing…glad I don’t know about it–it MIGHT be lots better!
Wow…loved seeing the names of people I’ve known over the last 4 years. Great job with your blog, Jack. It’s truly one of the best I’ve ever read. Here’s to another 1,000 posts!
WOW! Thank you Linda!
It’s pretty quiet here now…
*Blushing* Thank you my friend.
Jack! Get over here, NOW!
What? I think I hear Collie calling you to dinner…
Lottsa fun! Here’s to the next 1000 *plus!*
Thank you Elizabeth. This is why I write! All these great folks stopping by today.
Stopping off here again and mighty parched…..Ale ale and ale will do the trick….at least for an hour. Have a great day 2 St Paul groupies!!!
C|__|::clink::|__|D Cheers Paul!
Leave ‘em dangling. Way too visual for this blog.
SUSIE!!!
CONGRATS!!!! this is what I call dedication and imagination!!! Always and forever a HUGE fan!
Thanks Ines. It makes the time invested in matching the cheesy fiction up to the illustrations worth the effort.
Nice to see you got around to uploading tomorrow’s post.
It’s not like me to be late to the party!! Kudos to your dedication, imagination and creativity, Jack.
The IMPORTANT thing is you made it here, Thanks Kathy! The party’s kinda petered out, but all parties do. The good news–there’s no one passed-out under a table somewhere–I had Daisy check.
Ok late to the party…but I am honored to part of this crowd that was created looooonnnng ago on Active Rain. Those were the days…. I really miss those days. Thanks Jack for making me part of your history.
We had us some fun, didn’t we. Everyone who stopped by and commented, or simply stopped by are CHARTER MEMBERS of this INCLUSIVE bunch, at least to my way of thinking.
I’m calling it a night. This has been an absolutely marvelous experience. I am HONORED to have each and every one of you as cyber-friends, and even a few IRL friends as well.
THANK YOU!
