“Mind over matter,” Larry quipped, “If he minds—it doesn’t matter.”
“Thank you Larry—for putting this all in perspective,” Boomer had to laugh. That Andrew could manage all this really was not all THAT much of a surprise, “So, busting a lot of bad folks?”
“Not so much; an occasional ale-soaked tourist requires a time-out in my cross-bar room, but that’s about it.”
“Hmmpf!” Susie snorted, “You should have come with us; you’d have had a whole lot of fun wearing that tin star.”
“I’ve read the history—I like drunks much better.”
Season VI, Chapter 2, Episode 11:
Carl had been enjoying the mild banter when a thought struck him, “Has there been much activity at the airfield?”
“No, not really; it is the off-season. I still live in the manager’s quarters—it’s only a ten minute drive. In the squad. With red light. And siren.”
“We expected that. Good. I hope we’re done with our ‘assignment’ from Cujo before the season begins.”
“So, Andrew, do you still manage to manage the airfield?” Mac had a reason for asking—he’d been awaiting delivery of a P38 “Night Lightning,” a late World War II fighter plane just as they’d been sent into the past.
“Yes, yes I do. It’s a very part-time job now during the off-season,” he replied, “And before you ask; it arrived, has been assembled, but according to Lar, needs some more work before it can be flown.”
“Out next stop—right Boomer?”
“Oh my,” Sarah said as they went into Seven Tables, “This place is charming.”
There were no other customers there as the lunch rush was still a half-hour off, and the scheduled tours were still in progress, they went to the counter, where Susan served each the specialty of the day AND a piece of Fresh Apple Cake.
Susan was a little concerned as the history stopped just as she and her step-sons were leaving 1873 Grand Marais, “So what happened after we left Grand Marais?”
“We have no idea,” Sarah replied, “That’s when we were brought back to the present.”
“But everything will turn out okay, right?”
“We can’t know that,” Chris replied.
To be Continued…
NOTE: I can no longer continue to post regularly on WEEKENDS, due to the time it takes to write & illustrate each post.
