Meeting at Coldwater Ranch

Previously:

You tol’ me you’d help me git our story out marshal,” Derby whined, interrupting Boomer’s thoughts and causing the slumbering Daisy to stir, her rabbit-chasing dream ended by his voice.

Chief Deputy Hare is an accomplished writer, and he will be relieving me come morning—I expect he’ll bring his notebook. Don’t lie to him; he’ll know if you lie.”

I gotta tell the truth?”

I’m sure the truth will make a damn good yarn.”

Derby paused, thinking the matter over, “I reckon it will at that.”

At Coldwater Ranch, Susie Blackmon was planning a raid…

Season VI, Chapter 6 Renegade Marshal, Episode 11:

After listening to the news brought back by Flutters, and still waiting for Chris to return, Chief-Deputy Susie Blackmon called a meeting at Coldwater Ranch, “Big Mac told us we couldn’t interfere in Dreadwood, but he said nothing about interfering with the Double Bar-X—purposely.”

I have a feeling you have something up your sleeve,” Jay Cooper was a quick-study, “besides your arm.”

Are we late?” Samuel and Abbie Carpenter arrived with Abbie bringing a freshly-baked cake—she knew how to be neighborly.

No Sam, you’re right on time,” Jay grinned at the man who once tried to shoot him, “We’re still waiting for Doc Shouse.”

And while we’re waiting, Jay, some coffee may be a good idea…” Sarah hinted—bluntly.

About the time Jay pronounced the coffee done [One of the benefits of returning to modern Danger Bay, GENTLE READER, was Cujo allowing them to bring back a haversack filled with Hiram Silverthorn's Northwoods-Roast dark coffee—knowing full well that our heroes functioned much better when they'd had a mug or two of this fine “elixir-of-the-gods.”], “We’re here! We were delayed a bit by McLintock, who wanted to talk before we left. A good thing too.”

What news, Chris?”

It seems that McLintock has a separate bunk house for his round-up wranglers,” Doc was smiling broadly, “All the rustlers are quartered there.”

Wow!” Sarah Cooper exclaimed, “It would seem that great coffee brings great news!”

Grinning wickedly, Susie got down to business, “Okay—this is what we’re going to do.”
