“And Jimmy accepted mine—right Jimmy?”
“I’d be happy to consider it your offer. Compensation?”
Susan told him and he smiled.
“Accepted.”
“Good deal all around,” a tired Chris observed, “I don’t know about you, Susan, but since the siege at the 61 Way Café, I’ve had no time to decompress…”
And so she and Susan headed for their respective homes—a long, successful day was drawing to a close for them. But elsewhere…
Meanwhile—somewhere in Moosehead County… “More wood, Flutters! This train is bound for glory—this train…”
“The Master’s writings clearly state that “One who quotes song lyrics…”
“Feed the boiler, bird!”
Season 8—Chapter 2—The Harbor—Episode 10:
Meanwhile—all over Moosehead County…There were mysterious sightings of an old-fashioned train—rampaging through the county…
Through the forest in the daytime…

Through the forest in the daytime
Past the Depot in the daytime…

Past the Depot in the daytime
Through the forest at night…

Through the forest at night…
And past the depot at night…

And past the depot at night…
Since no one had seen a train on the old tracks in a couple of decades, this was a great surprise. Some had read in the local newspaper that the county was rehabbing the old train depot on the North Bluff (just down the road a piece from the Cabin-on-the-Rock) and they figured that the train had been obtained—but were annoyed that they hadn’t read about its arrival.
They were also annoyed that none of the railroad crossings had warning signs, much less the flashing lights to warn motorists of an approaching train. It was nothing short of a miracle that no one was hurt at any of the crossings (although there were some close calls, I’ve been told).
The various law enforcement agencies were kept busy throughout the weekend with dozens of calls about this phantom-train—yet try as they might, and they tried their level best—not one officer actually saw the train.
As suddenly as they began, the sightings ended and within an hour or two after that—no one had any memory of the sightings—not a soul.
Well—except for two very-tired, very-hungry individuals waiting for Silverthorn’s Café to open.

They have stories to tell…LOL
But…WILL they?
I couldn’t sleep (yeah, that’s right, sometimes even BEAGLES have a case of insomnia lasting at least 2 minutes), so here I am.
Was it real, or just a “Yatter” nightmare? AR-ROOO!!!
Only time will tell … it has been written.
I’d hate it if it had been decades since a train was rumbling down my track.
Methinks thinks Fluttermatters you may have been hiding in the caboose far too long. The action is on the engine where at night the codger turns the lights out.
The Codger™ turns the lights not ON—or OFF—that dear BRAIN-of-BIRD is the province of the on-blog characters.
Methinks thinks Fluttermatters that it be a good thing the Elton John pink diamond encrusted spectacles have night vision capability as the curmudgeon has decided to risk all with out a head lamp beaming bright.
To blame the Codger for Larry failing to turn the headlamp on is pure foolishness. Oh wait… “Foolishness” IS your specialty, isn’t it?
Methinks thinks Fluttermatters that little do those who remark understand that the cyber switch doesn’t work. It must be that or the codger has a faulty connection commonly referred and understood by all but never mentioned by those who know as a senior’s moment.
But let us fear not for the cyber clock does tick suggesting that the train is on time for the next episode.
The light is there to be used by the operator IF the operator has a loooong enough match to light the light. Have Larry check his match.
Methinks thinks Fluttermatters that confusion reigns supreme on tracks ahead for after consulting with the Master it was clearly determined that there is no ‘match’ for Larry. He is a singularity of ‘perfection’ amongst mortals and cyber characters.
[Sigh]
Strange it is that Silverthorn has a light on but nobody is home.
Seems to invalidate the theories surrounding my good and faithful feathered friend.
…And this is a surprise?
Nice train pics..now I can see these !!! Im going back to the last episode now to see if the pics have appeared LOL
Hmmmm…
