“Why are we wearing these pretty uniforms?”
“Captain Cooper will be taking command of those troopers.”
“Me?”
Season 8—Chapter 3—The New Cartel—Episode 4:
Continuing our story overlooking the road from Duluth to Eagle Point… “Yes, Human-Jay, you will do just fine—the soldiers will not notice the change in command.”
“But..”
“I can help you, Jay, I have military experience—some things remain the same. You tell me what you want, and I’ll issue the orders and Master Sergeant Larry will repeat the orders.”
“I will?”
“I will?”
“I have one more thing for you to do. When you negotiate the treaty, make sure a clause is added to the land-use/lease portion.”
“Okay, what, and why?”
“The what part is to insert the following: ‘In the event the Eagle Point Band of Ojibwe determines the use of the property violates the laws of either party, the lease-rights will be revoked and the occupant will be ordered to vacate the property.’ The why part is to stop the cartel.”
On the road from Duluth to Eagle Point…
Riding at the front of the column with Jay was their Ojibwe scout, Black Crow, “Captain, it would be wise not to enter the village with all, the Eagle Point Tribe will see you coming and prepare for an attack.”
Larry was riding with them, “He’s right, sir, it would make sense to leave all but five or six of us behind.”
“Very well, Sergeant, have Lieutenant Boomer join us,” Cooper looked off to their right, “Have have him meet us in that clearing.”
The column was ordered to halt and the troopers dismounted take a well-earned break, Master Sergeant Yatters, Canine Scout Daisy, Ojibwe Scout Black Crow, Captain Cooper, Canine Scout Pepper and 1st Lieutenant Boomer met in the clearing.

Black Crow wasted little time with niceties, “Grey Cloud has heard about the Dakotah and is preparing for war.”
