Deputy Kidd and Spenser

All cats are evil—from our point-of view. We must find this cat.”

Daisy did not like this idea, not one little bit, but couldn’t help thinking, “I wonder if LaChat can time-travel?”

Meanwhile, Jonathan Spenser & Major McLintock were on their way to Grand Marais, expecting it to be under the control of McLintock’s men…

Season VI, Chapter 2, Episode 30:

I wonder why we haven’t heard from your men, Major.”

I’m a little concerned as well, Calhoun and Johnston are good seasoned leaders; I would have thought we’d have heard something by now.”

We’ll soon know,” Spenser was looking at the major as he spoke, “I wonder if they got Randall Kidd…”

They didn’t.”

Spenser looked up and saw Randall Kidd riding towards them

Spenser looked up and saw Randall Kidd riding towards them, “Good afternoon, Deputy Kidd, “We have some business to discuss.”

Kidd had no idea he’d been targeted for elimination—something Spenser was counting on—obviously, the raid was somehow defeated or…

Good afternoon, gentlemen. Yes we do.”

Has there been any unusual activity around town?” McLintock asked, “The reason I ask, is one of my scouts heard gunfire this morning.”

There was a bunch of gunfire just north of town, but when I got there all I found was three dead highwaymen, and horse tracks of two leaving along with a bunch of animal tracks—most puzzling.”

Did you track them?”

Nope. That’s not a good idea without a posse. I suspect a deputy marshal I met in town, came off the steamer and was heading for Williams’ Station, may have been involved. In any case Marshal McGillicuddy suggested we stay close to town, there were other lawmen on the roads.”

Perhaps, Major, we should visit the Man O’War for a drink…”

…and information? I agree,” Spenser smiled, weakly, “Join us Deputy?”

Daisy quietly padded away from the wolves, a bit lost in her thoughts, “LaChat would be most helpful about now.”

Things seem to be building up to…something. I suspect life will become a bit more perilous for our heroes. 😐

It’s funny how Daisy is so able to pop into different time streams and call people/critters to her with just a thought … it’s almost as if she has some strange hold over the author … hmmm …
