A male wildcat

Previously:

Perhaps, Major, we should visit the Man O’War for a drink…”

…and information? I agree,” Spenser smiled, weakly, “Join us Deputy?”

Daisy quietly padded away from the wolves, a bit lost in her thoughts, “LaChat would be most helpful about now.”

Hello my friend.”

Season VI, Chapter 2, Episode 31:

What?” Daisy resisted the temptation to bark that out as loudly as her surprise wanted her, “How?”

“You called my name—here I am.”

You called my name—here I am.”

My Alpha-Jack and his friends are…”

In one hell of a jamb,” LaChat finished, “I know, I’ve been reading the history as it is written. So, Monsieur Renegade requires assistance with a bright wildcat? A male wildcat?”

Yes.”

A MALE wildcat,” LaChat purred, “I will be happy to help. Come with me.”

With nightfall imminent, the Blackmon posse stopped about a quarter mile away from the cabin on the advice of Grey Cloud, “I will send my best scouts to gather information on the raider positions and find weaknesses; they move in silence and won’t be caught.”

“I will send my best scouts to gather information..."

Good,” Blackmon agreed—they needed information to make a plan of attack. A good plan, because even with Grey Cloud’s warriors, they were outnumbered and surprise would be their ally.

The Man O’War Pub was nearly deserted; possibly due to the unrest in the countryside, the rumors of many highwaymen abroad on the roads & trails, and like all rumors the threat grew with each telling.

Molly Burns was bartending, a jolly woman of indeterminate age, who simply knows everything going on for miles around.

Good evening Deputy, Mr. Spenser, and, oh my, an officer in our fine military. What’ll you fellas have?”

“I hear tell that there's a hunnert or more..."

The three men ordered their drinks, and as Molly served them she shared the latest rumor—albeit a bit burnished by exaggeration, “I hear tell that there’s a hunnert or more highwaymen surrounding the old Steinmueller cabin up there on the road betwixt Williams’ Station an’ Danger Bay. There be some marshals in the cabin an’ they be puttin’ up a good fight.”

Spenser took this all in, giving a hard look at McLintock, “Really?”

LaChat “Minou” Sauvage is a friend and ally of both Ringo & Cujo; yes, she’s quite well-read, having just finished the ENTIRE Lord of the Rings trilogy AND War and Peace. 😀
