Kidd & McLintock plot

Previously:

Kidd followed Flutters through one after another complete lazy “S” track and noted he never varied his speed or altitude—over and over again.

Kidd paused for one more pass, and fired.

The shot zipped a quarter inch from Flutters’ tail feathers…

Causing him to spin a turn or two…

Disoriented, he regained control flying rapidly towards the ground—the ground was where the sky should be!

Moments before a disastrous face to ground meeting, Flutters managed to regain some manner of control and flew inches above the ground for several hundred feet.

You missed, Kidd.”

I reckon I did. Beans for dinner.”

Season VI, Chapter 3 Trackdown, Episode 17:

Flutters regained control before hitting the ground, I think he came within a yard or so of the hard prairie, but to hear him tell it later, his feathers brushed the ground.

Flutters regained control before hitting the ground...

Wool-gathering would no longer be an issue with Flutters, at least on this particular assignment—he remained high above the prairie flying in irregular circles AND well out of range of Kidd’s Henry Rifle. And, unfortunately out of his auditory range—even his “Mythical-Master” couldn’t help him here.

We, however, GENTLE READER, can hear them—let’s listen-in

I sure hope the next town we come to has a Saloon—one that serves food, Randy. I’m getting’ really tired of beans. Even that bird looked good to me and I don’t much like foul-food.”

That’s one problem with travelin’, Ben, getting a decent meal. We have the money, thanks to Spenser.”

Grabbing those last payments to Fensterwald WAS helpful. I wonder if Spenser knows…”

“Grabbing those last payments to Fensterwald WAS helpful. I wonder if Spenser knows...”

Fensterwald is a coward. I bet he didn’t say a word; especially after looking down the barrels of my .45s.”

Both were quiet for some time and both were thinking about their next move. McLintock was no gunfighter—his ability to draw and accurately fire his .44 simply wasn’t fast enough for that, even though he WAS a good marksman.

Kidd knew he had but one talent, aside from his gunfighter skills, he could usually get hired as a town marshal—he had a way to eliminate a serving marshal and thereby creating a job opening.

I have an idea!”

Who is the Marshall in this town? If they have money why would they stop…course they don’t think anyone is falling them so they feel safe. Gunfight in the street at high noon?

Methinks thinks Fluttermatters those who need to know and they are but few know that the Master designed and implemented a hearing device so ‘mythical’ that few know about it. :0

Possibly…But I have it on good authority that master did not bestow this gift on you. Precisely why you will report nothing past the occurrence of the near-miss upon your tail-feathers. It is written…It must be so. 🙂
