Altogether, a perilous day!

Previously:

Ralph Crenshaw and Willie McCallum were from Alabama by way of Texas and the Civil War, just didn’t cotton to all them damn Nigra cowboys allowed to wrangle longhorns down there in Texas. They’d heard that the Dakota Territory was populated by Scandinavians and Injuns and were more than a little surprised to see that big buck walk into the saloon…

Season VI, Chapter 4 Predators and Victims, Episode 10:

Ah thought folks up this way knew better’n ta allow Nigras out by theyselves, Willie, steada tendin’ ta th’ farmin’.”

Hey, barkeep, ain’cha gonna chase this-year Nigra outta here? You don’t allow them in year, doya?”

The barkeep remained quiet and hoped that somehow he’d get home this day—alive.

Big Mac smiled and then burst into laughter, his deep laugh echoing through the saloon. Willie and Ralph just sneered as they reached for their pistols, “Boy? You dead awready, you jest too stupid t’know it.”

Tom and Dreadwood Town Marshal Iver Johannsen approached Tom’s small ranch, “I don’t understand why anybody do this, Marshal, it just ain’t right.”

They didn’t see the men on both sides of the road—until the men began shooting. Tom and Marshal Johannsen didn’t stand a chance…

Boomer was on the ground and not moving, Chris, Buttons and Daisy rushed his side, with Daisy nudging him with her nose—but there was no response.

Chris rushed to Boomer ©2012 Jack Boardman

“AR-ROOO!!! AR-ROOO!!! AR-ROOO!!!”

AR-ROOO!!! AR-ROOO!!! AR-ROOO!!!” Daisy bayed, and fearing for the worst, let out the death bay, just as the beagles had for for Hunter in the 21st Century, “AR-ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Chris quickly grabbed her medical bag and knelt down beside him. Boomer was still breathing, but unresponsive. It didn’t look good.

Daisy silently called to her big sister, “Cujo, I need you!”
