“I am sorry, Daisy,” Cujo said, sadness in her voice, “This is a surprise to me as well, you must deal with this and stay by Alpha-Jack’s side and hope for the best.”
“Should I try to convince him he’s doing the wrong thing?”
“You can try…”
“It’s not worth the paper it’s written on—it’s the only one there is, sent only to you. US Marshal McIntyre is quite alive. We tracked you here.”
Kidd was stunned—and confused, “Why are you telling me this?”
“I figure the only reason you didn’t draw when you first saw me is because you thought you might be able to convince me to work for you. A wrong assumption.”
Kidd panicked and went for his guns, alas—again Boomer was quicker, “Don’t! I’d hate to kill my new employee. I’m taking over. You want to live?”
Season VI, Chapter 5 Coldwater Ranch, Episode 18:
“How did you…?”
“You’re not as fast as you fancy yourself—or as smart. Let’s go inside and have a chat, shall we?”
“Why not here?”
“Because I’ll kill you where you stand—I happen to have my badge and a wanted poster from Grand Marais with your ugly face plastered on it in my saddlebags—it clearly states ‘Dead or Alive.’ I won’t wait long for you to go inside. Daisy—stay here and guard the door.”
It was then Daisy had her chat with Cujo and after began to think about just running off and maybe head for Coldwater Ranch—but they’d been together her entire life—the little dog was torn by her emotions.
As they went inside to discuss the details of Boomer’s takeover, one of the other hombres, a dangerous shootist, featured in Kidd’s wanted poster file rode into Dreadwood.
This shootist, Derby, had been cutting a wide swath of death through the desert southwest since the end of the Civil War—sometimes it seemed at though he was in two places at once—and was credited for killing some thirty men, including ten lawmen. There was hardly any room left on the butt of his Colt .45 for more notches.
He enjoyed his work.
To be Continued…
Now we all know Boomer would never be bad and this has to be all part of the plan. Daisy you need to have more faith and loyalty!

I like the word “shootist”. We can assume a level of professionalism comes with it, so we have some idea where this is going. I think. 🙂
