The Renegade Marshal

Derby surprised Kidd as he walked into the marshal’s office, but Kidd was a gunfighter and he reacted the only way he knew how.

The people on the boardwalk outside the office heard three quick gunshots—and then—silence.

The door opened…

Season VI, Chapter 6 The Renegade Marshal, Episode 1:

And Derby walked out of the Marshal’s office, mounted his horse, and slowly rode away.

Boomer Jack and Erik hearing the commotion, walked down to Kidd’s office and found Kidd in the jail cell—not moving. Mostly because he was quite dead.

Mostly because he was quite dead.

Erik went into the cell to make sure, and figured the two bullet-holes near Kidd’s badge confirmed their original diagnosis.

US Marshal Carl McIntyre called Chief-Deputy US Marshal Blackmon and Deputy US Marshal Yatkowsky in for a private meeting, “Getting to the point, Susie, Larry and I have been ordered by the District Marshal in Saint Louis to begin a special mission that will take us away for several weeks. On his orders, you are not to take any action against Boomer Jack and Professor Hare in Dreadwood in our absence.”

“But they’ve become outlaws…”

But they’ve become outlaws…”

Yes, and the boss thinks this might work to our advantage,” Carl sighed, “I don’t get it either, nor do I understand what motivated Boomer to do what he’s done. Like you, I have my orders. Larry and I are heading for Wichita, Kansas to meet with Deputy Marshal Wyatt Earp.”

Really? He was a bit of a scalawag.”

I guess we’ll find out.”

Stay in touch with St. Louis, we’ll be out of contact,” with that, Mac concluded the meeting.

Boomer and Erik walked out of Kidd’s office to find a crowd of angry townsfolk outside and shouts of, “Who did it?” “Are you goin’ after th’ killer?

“Who did it?” “Are you goin’ after th’ killer?”

Boomer replied, “Anyone see who mighta done this?”

I saw a feller wearin’ a bright sepia vest walk out, look around, then ride slowly through town to the south. Mean lookin’ bastid wearin’ a derby hat.”

Smiling inside, as he kind of figured that’s what Derby had in mind when he asked about Kidd, Boomer thanked the fellow and then to Erik said quietly, “See to Kidd’s horse, send him to Coldwater Ranch—I think he’s sentient. C’mon Daisy, let’s get tracking this killer.”

I hope they are not going to be at the OK Corral and that they don’t need a dentist while they are in town!!!!

    • Jack Boardman says:

Heh, heh. They’re going to Wichita and the OK Corral was in Tombstone, so I suspect they won’t get there…but they could run into Doc Holliday, I s’pect.
