You’re NOT my Alpha-Human

Previously:

Boomer and Erik walked out of Kidd’s office to find a crowd of angry townsfolk outside and shouts of, “Who did it?” “Are you goin’ after th’ killer?”

Boomer replied, “Anyone see who mighta done this?”

I saw a feller wearin’ a bright sepia vest walk out, look around, then ride slowly through town to the south. Mean lookin’ bastid wearin’ a derby hat.”

Smiling inside, as he kind of figured that’s what Derby had in mind when he asked about Kidd, Boomer thanked the fellow and then to Erik said quietly, “See to Kidd’s horse, send him to Coldwater Ranch—I think he’s sentient. C’mon Daisy, let’s get tracking this killer.”

Season VI, Chapter 6 Renegade Marshal, Episode 2:

As the crowd now somewhat satisfied, dissipated. Erik walked closer to Kidd’s horse and was moderately surprised by, “Pal already gave me directions to Coldwater Ranch, thank you.”

Recovering quickly, Erik asked, “Do you have a name?”

I never told Kidd my name and I won’t repeat what he called me. I am from the southwest and I was named Cochise by my band to honor that Chiricahua Apache leader in what you call Arizona Territory.”

Erik untied Cochise and bade him farewell, and walked to Seven Tables, where he was accosted by Susan, “Ben and Alice are telling me that Boomer has gone renegade—tell me please this isn’t so.”

Susan, I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that. He has, and I’m playing along.”

Poor Daisy.”

It must be tough to be you now, Jack”

Just ‘Jack,’ not ‘Alpha-Jack,’ Daisy?”

I was told to stay with you, but you betrayed your friends, you’re NOT my Alpha-Human anymore.”

“I was told to stay with you, but you betrayed your friends, you’re NOT my Alpha-Human anymore.”

So why are you here with me?”

I spoke with Cujo and she said, ‘This is a surprise to me as well, you must deal with this and stay by Alpha-Jack’s side and hope for the best.‘ I will do as she said.”

We’ll talk more, now track Derby.”

It was nightfall when Big Mac [Now known as “Carl Mack”] and Larry brazenly rode through Dreadwood, not caring if they were noticed, and hoping word would get to Boomer. Neither was the case—they were not noticed and Boomer received no such word.

To be Continued…
