Doc Shouse found everything in order at PawZ—except—it seems as though Big A had gone into anmial rescue as well. For profit. Doctor James Red Cloud, her associate & assistant, told her he learned that Simpson was planning a shelter in Moosehead City and that he’d already aquired the land for it. Rumor had it that he’d hired a veterinarian out of the ‘Cities as well.
This was NOT good news.
Season VI, Chapter 7 Danger Bay—2012, Episode 4:
With Sarah at the controls of Big Mac’s P38 Night Lightning, followed closely by Mac in Boomer’s P51B Mustang and Larry in his F6F Hellcat, they took off from Danger Bay Airfield.
Sarah led them out over Lake Superior where at about 10,000 feet she led them on some gentle maneuvers—just to reacquaint herself with the aircraft—and even let Jay fly the airplane—after warning the others of her intent. Mac and Larry quickly gave the Lightning a lot more air.
Jay quickly discovered he really enjoyed this flying thing, it seemed easier than he’d imagined and couldn’t help a little bravado, “This seems pretty-easy, I thought you said this plane could be difficult.”
“Oh—it can be,” Sarah grinned as she then called the others, “I have control. Let’s go low and fast!”
Mac and Larry, both with Cheshire-Cat grins, closed up tight on the Lightning. One after another they rotated through a tight turn and dove towards the lake.
Leveling out just feet above the water they jammed their throttles to the stops and rapidly accelerated to well-over 350mph—with Mac and Larry’s eyes glued to the tail of the airplane in front.
“Now!” Sarah radioed, and pulled back on the yoke. The Lightning quickly began a stomach-wrenching climb with the Mustang and Hellcat following in close formation.
Sarah, still grinning from ear to ear, asked, “Well Jay?”
She was only mildly surprised by, “Let’s do that again!”
When Susie Blackmon arrived at her place it was clear that she’d done the right thing in asking Medlar Farkleberry to oversee the construction of the buildings. The bunkhouse and the first of three stables were already completed—totally invisible from the closest road. He’d moved her Airstream so that she could gaze out over the Port of Danger as she enjoyed her morning coffee—after feeding the inevitable feral kitties.
Now—she looked forward to interviewing candidates for the job of foreman!
To be Continued…
Yes, Susie is trimming up the ‘landing strip’ for all the foreman candidates!
