Erik & Mac—Enforcers

Previously:

About the same time—at Silverthorn’s Café Susie Blackmon, James Hickok, Wyatt Earp, Molly Halloran, Lyle “Cob” Pettigrew were having an impromptu meeting of sorts, “You want me to prepare for an open water operation, Hiram? Why?”

Because, things are in place to force the cartel out on the lake. Do you have any armed patrol boats?”

We can arm the MV Sparrow,” Halloran smiled, wickedly.

Molly is correct,” Cob said, “She’s the most versatile of all the big boats, and we can arm a few of our rescue boats.”

How soon?”

A week, tops.”

Gunners?”

All the peace officers raised their hands.

No big surprise there—right?

Season 8—Chapter 3—The New Cartel—Episode 7:

Meanwhile—in Moosehead City… Phillip Biggs was convinced that his new hires would add much to his operation—the big one, although well into his seventies, appeared to be a man not to be messed with, and in fact Biggs himself felt a bit intimidated in his presence.

The smaller, somewhat bookish man, he read as spooky-smart and maybe good with numbers.

Biggs decided to test both of them with one assignment—to check out the little bookmaking operation he had in North Moosehead City. He was sure the guy was skimming the profits—but couldn’t quite figure out how. He sent the two out to visit the operation.

Just a few hours later the two returned, the big guy broadly smiling and the smaller guy looking—bemused.

Well?”

Erik & Big Mac report back to Mr. Biggs

“Well?”

He was skimming, and not doing a very good job of hiding it. When I told him what and how he was doing it, Mac began walking towards him with that ‘smile,’ slowly & deliberately.”

And then?”

He paid back what he took, on the spot,” Mac rumbled.

What did you do with him?”

Mr. Biggs, you really don’t need to know that,” Mac replied, “You do, however, need to replace him.”

Biggs didn’t pursue the matter—what he didn’t know he couldn’t answer for in court—if it ever came to that. I suppose, GENTLE READER, you may be wondering what Mac did just about now—right? Lets just say the man left town, then the county, and within hours, the state. He would eventually end up in Reno, Nevada, attempt the same scam, and end up never being heard from again.

Meanwhile—back in 1862 near the Ojibwe Village on Eagle Point…

Cooper & Company arrive at the Ojibwe village

Meanwhile—back in 1862 near the Ojibwe Village on Eagle Point…

Captain Cooper and his men prepared to parley as they came within sight of the village.

    “spooky-smart”
Uncanny, methinks thinks Fluttermatters that the Master’s biography starts with those words.

Methinks thinks Fluttermatters this is as it should be for the second hidden word is a ‘mystery’ which as we know is in keeping with Master’s teachings. 🙂
