Previously:
Eighteen year old Kuckunniwi (Little Wolf) remained with Lt. Boomer and Master Sergeant Yatters asking many questions. There was one question he asked that caught Yatters’ attention, “What do you think of this Silverthorn?”
Larry paused for a moment, formulating an answer, “I believe he will be remembered as an enlightened man and as an Indian agent, a man who treated the Ojibwe with deep respect and honor.”
“Thank you, I believe you are right,” Little Wolf replied. In ten years or so, upon the death of the agent, James Hiram Silverthorn, he would take the Silverthorn name for his English surname, he would call himself Little Wolf James Silverthorn.
Season 8—Chapter 3—The New Cartel—Episode 9:
Continuing—back in 1862 near the Ojibwe Village… The negotiations went on for a couple of hours and in the end, both parties were satisfied. The treaty included the clause: “In the event the Eagle Point Band of Ojibwe determines the use of the property violates the laws of either party, the lease-rights will be revoked and the occupant will be ordered to vacate the property,” which as you know, GENTLE READER, is precisely WHY our heroes went back in time.
With the need to have Jay and company in 1862 now fulfilled, they found themselves back in the 21st Century, a little disoriented, but back.
Somewhere near Lullaby Creek… Boomer & Daisy found themselves standing by Boomer’s truck, with no sign, other than tracks in the grass of their friends, “It’s best not to speculate, Alpha Jack, we should just go home.”
“Or, to Silverthorn’s, I could use a cup of good coffee.”
In Bigg’s office—Moosehead City… “What do you mean we lost our land lease?”
Sheriff Todd McCoy was really enjoying this and let Biggs rant for a bit, “We caught two of your men running an illegal game in the casino. That’s all it takes. You may petition the Eagle Point Council of Elders if you wish.”
“Which two?”
“An older Black fellow—big guy, and a smaller, bookish fellow—their names escape me at the moment. In any case, they’re on their way to Duluth.”
“Duluth? Why?”
“Federal warrants. I never saw the fellas, as soon as my chief deputy ran their names, the warrants came up, so he notified the FBI. They picked them up a half hour ago.”
“One more question, what is the extent of the Eagle Point Reservation?”
“All of Moosehead County and a mile out from the shoreline onto Lake Superior.”
“Thank you.”
