Season 9—Prologue

Search & Rescue BannerSeason 9—Prologue—Search & Rescue—Setting the Stage

Beginning this season, GENTLE READER, the episodes will be shorter (under 300 words) and more frequent—posting Monday through Friday—excluding holidays.

The episodes will be dialog-driven with the stage set by the illustration. I thoroughly enjoy making the illustrations—but they are a tremendous time-suck, so I am going to limit them to one per post.

Each chapter will center the activities of one or two of our real world characters over a period of time. The rest of our real world characters will come in and out of the chapter as supporting “actors,” as needed.

As always, your suggestions for storylines are welcome—as are high resolution photographs suitable for use as backgrounds for our characters (photo credits—always).

And now—let’s set the stage!

Susan, Chris the EMTs: Thomas Blackhawk and Osias Smith (they’re not short—they’re kneeling), and the Canine Emergency Service Specialists: Alice and Benji have completed all their initial training and are on a routine training operation out over Lake Superior, and on the surface below, Rescue Boat 09 commanded by Randolph Kidd and crewed by Kidd’s Rottweiler, CESS (Canine Emergency Service Specialist) George, EMTs Jerry Black Crow, Dimitry Jones and Terry Johanssen.

Good plan! I love your illustrations but I do understand how much time they must take. (You are welcome to any of my photos at any time, if they help.) I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes, and I really love the continuing examples of dogs and people working together. 🙂

  3. I, too, love the new illustrations! It’s fun to look back to see how much things (art!) have evolved on your blog. Such a multi-talented stud muffin. I’ll be back on the road in the airstream soon so may have those commenting issues again, but I will be stalking you here!

Those old illustrations, when they were first published were well-received, but now look like kid drawings. 🙂
