Previously: Meanwhile—Boomer, Daisy and AJ had their own problems to deal with. They were in a defendable position and could not be surrounded, they were heavily outnumbered—and it was likely they did not have enough ammunition with them. Even if every round fired hit, they could only reduce the number by less than half.
“Maybe we were better-off back on the island?”
“I think so, Dad.”
“That is inconvenient.”
Season 9—Chapter 3—Disruption—Episode 9—Back in Pioneer Nevada…
“You take position behind that rock,” Boomer pointing, said, “I’ll take my stand right here. Daisy? You join the horses—and keep your head down.”
“No buts, Beagle—those who cannot shoot, must take cover.”
“Hey, I just thought about this—why didn’t you upgrade my 19th Century-self to having a Henry rifle instead of this Sharps Carbine?”
“Because you didn’t ask?”
“In Episode 5 you said, and I quote: ‘…There were at least ten riders…’ Ummm…there are way more than ten riders approaching us. I’d say this is really bad odds!”
“Good eye, Andrew, good eye,” Boomer, raising his Henry said. He dropped the hammer and the big Henry recoiled and a distant rider fell from his horse.
“That’s one down and too many to go.”
“Some people are never satisfied.”
“If I had a Henry…”
“We’ve covered that.”
“Two would be down,” Andrew cracked as he brought the Sharps to his shoulder and fired—the round a near-miss.
“Close,” Boomer fired another round causing another rider to fall, “Just not close enough. Score two-zip, father’s favor.”
They fired simultaniously, one rider fell to the Sharps, “Closing the gap, Pop.”
Boomer fired twice while Andrew reloaded the single shot Sharps—and missed.
Andrew fired and as he attempted to look at his target—all he saw was the inside of the 2013 prison cell, “DAMMIT!”
