The Charge

Loco Part II BannerPreviously: Mac had been viewing the seige of Loco through his binoculars, “The townfolk are giving them a hell of a fight, I suspect Spencer thinks they’re losing and is trying to get away. Prepare to charge. Horse-people, use your bodies to slam into their horses at the gallop, canines remain here, and we humans? Hang-on and hold your sabres like you know how to use them. Ready? CHARGE!

We don’t have a,” AJ began, but found a bugle had appeared in his hand—more amazing—he knew how to use it, and sounded the charge.

Anybody else notice Larry was not there?

What happened to Yatkowsky?

Season 9—Chapter 5—LOCO Part II!—Episode 1—where we learn of Larry’s whereabouts…AND—how this “charge-thing” worked out.

First—Larry. He was there, but was camera-shy. No. REALLY!

The marshals charged into the outlaws

The marshals charged into the outlaws

The marshals charged into the outlaws with the horses as ordered, purposely galloped right into the outlaw’s steeds knocking three of them to the ground. One rider, an old cavalryman himself, anticipated the tactic and dodged Chris and Northstar.

The rider, Jeremiah Smith and his great white warhorse, galloped away. Northstar, as quick as she is, could not catch-up, so Chris wisely turned back to the main battle.

A good thing too, as Northstar slammed into an outlaw just as he was about to fire point-blank at Larry.

The battle was soon over—Spencer wisely surrendered, believing he could, ultimately, wriggle out of trouble—once again.

Meanwhile—at the seige of Loco… The determined townsfolk were beginning to win their battle with the rest of the outlaws. Although relatively light—they had taken casualties: Phineas Miller, Attorney at Law and partner in the firm of Miller & Blot, had died of his wounds. Mrs. William Callahan had been wounded, but was expected to survive.

Among the hundred outlaws who surrounded Loco, some thirty were dead or severely wounded, and soon the survivors retreated into the desert.

They would eventually regroup with Jeremiah Smith at Indian Springs.

This, of course, gives our heroes the opportunity to get into more trouble.

I like that!
