“Where’s Birdbrain?”

Fort Justice BannerPreviously: “Pleasant day for a horseback ride, eh?” Larry couldn’t help cracking wise.

“Shet-up!”

“Not a pleasant day, eh?”

“I said—shet-up!”

“Well, I think it’s a pleasant day for a ride—the sun is shining…”

“SHET-UP! Afore I plug yuh full of holes.”

“Oh—I don’t think you will, eh? There’s a reason you have me as a reluctant companion, eh?”

“Jest shut-up, eh?”

Chapter 7—Loco Part IV, Fort Justice—Episode 12… Larry figured they needed him alive for whatever plan they’d cooked-up, “If you lads think you can get a ransom for me, you might as well forget about it, eh?”

STOP SAYING ‘EH?’!

“I’m Canadian, eh?” Larry would stop—for now. He was right—he had to remain alive.

Meanwhile—back at Fort Justice—Daisy, Buttons and Poodle became aware that Flutters had not been trying to torment them with his incessant babbling about his lessons for “The Master.”

“Where’s Birdbrain?” Daisy wondered aloud, “Not that I miss his narrative, mind you.”

The canines went to look for Flutters

“Where’s Birdbrain?” Daisy wondered aloud

“That IS strange—yet not unpleasant,” Poodle too, was wondering.

“On the other paw,” Buttons arfed, “The silence-of-the-bird…Oh heck! Let’s go find him.”

And at La Cantina—Larry’s captor was, in his mind, at least, regaling Boomer & Mac with his tales of prospecting for silver…

“It was th’ summer of ’69, an’ me an’ Rufus had just struck what we thought was th’ motherlode…”

His voice drifted off into his tablemate’s sub-conscience, as most BS tales do. They were brought back from their head-nodding at appropriate times coma by, “Welp, I reckon I’ll get me another whiskey. Nice talkin’ with yuh, fellas.”

“Finally—he’s done,” Boomer said.

“I wonder where Larry is,” Mac noticed his now-conspicuous absence.

“Oh—probably napping in his new quarters.”

To be continued…

It’s just like having toddlers. If it’s quiet, you should worry.
