Previously: A short time later, Boomer & company came upon Chris and the marshals, “We had a near run-in with some folks on the high ground five miles ahead of you. Chances are good they’ve left—but.”
“We’ll scout the hill, just to be safe,” Chris replied, “Why didn’t they attack doya reckon?”
“This, perhaps?” Boomer pulled out his new Farkleberry.
“Oh. I am SO jealous,” Susie’s eyes widened—just a bit.
“There’s one each apiece waiting for you in basement of my place.”
“I asked for them and they came by next-day-mail.”
“In the 19th Century?”
“This is a blog—not reality.”
Chapter 8—Fort Justice—Episode 11…Conclusion
AJ Boardman accompanied the stagecoach towards the town of Fort Justice while the others lingered a bit before beginning the journey back to Loco—AND their new Farkleberry-Henry 44-40 scoped rifles, “Any problems on the trail here?”
“No Chris,” Boomer replied, “Except for the eight or more highwaymen who were waiting in ambush for us about ten miles back.”
“They were waiting? Why did they not attack, I wonder?”
“Perhaps because I was holding this rifle, and looking in their direction.”
“How did you know they were there?” Sarah asked the question all were wondering.
“Because they hadn’t bathed in recent history,” Daisy arfed with a crooked smile, “My nose found them.”
“A dead giveaway,” Poodle laughed, “I’ll bet they had no clue how they were found.”
“Just adding to the legend of ‘Boomer Jack Boardman,’ I reckon,” Pal whinnied.
The talking soon morphed into silent-thoughts as they made their way back along the trail to Loco.
The silent-thoughts morphed into are-we-there-yet-boredom.
Many hours later they arrived at Boomer’s house and all were looking forward to its basement and modern facilities.
What none of them realized—the trail to those modern facilities would be a good bit longer than they expected.
Thus ends Chapter 8 AND Season 9. But our story? To be continued—as SEASON 10 begins…
