“Just adding to the legend of ‘Boomer Jack Boardman,’ I reckon,” Pal whinnied.

The talking soon morphed into silent-thoughts as they made their way back along the trail to Loco.

The silent-thoughts morphed into are-we-there-yet-boredom.

Many hours later they arrived at Boomer’s house and all were looking forward to its basement and modern facilities.

What none of them realized—the trail to those modern facilities would be a good bit longer than they expected.

Boomer’s Note: Those were the last words spoken in the 19th Century by our heroes…they found themselves in their various 21st Century homes—and just a little disoriented.

While they reorient themselves—let’s continue…

Previously (from “Who ARE them marshals?” posted 16 Jan 2014):

“Hey wait—you’re here, AJ; who’s guarding the prisoners?”

“None other than Wyatt Earp, IV,” Andrew smiled broadly, “I asked Cujo to send him to cover a shift or two while we interview townsfolk for our open deputy position.”

“He’s not staying?” Chris’ disappointment showed.

“He can’t stay, he’s in the middle of a homicide investigation.”

“In Danger Bay?” Sarah was aghast—murders simply DO NOT happen in Danger Bay.

“It happened just as we returned here, and he won’t say. We won’t find out until we return.”

Season 10—Chapter 1—A Murder in Danger Bay—Episode 1:

Hans Schwarzkopf smiled as he listened to the radio news, “A gruesome murder was discovered at The Hotel Lincoln in downtown Duluth. Police at this time have no leads but say this is one of the most brutal murders they had seen in a while.  The victim was identified as Ace Schwarzkopf.  We will keep you up to date on this investigation.”

Hans breathed in the fresh air.  He had been locked up in Sandstone Federal Correctional Facility for many years thanks to Ace and his sister Millie.  The contacts he made on the inside made it easy to plan an escape and have a car and money waiting for him.

Having taken care of Ace he was now on his way to Danger Bay to take care of Millie.  Satisfaction would be his.

He parked just off Brighton Beach Road in Kitchi Gammi Park and enjoyed the brisk breeze and savored what he had done, and what he would do in a few hours. He smiled.

He parked just off Brighton Beach Road in Kitchi Gammi Park

And he continued smiling as he passed through the villages and towns along old US 61: French River, Tom’s Logging Camp, Knife River, Two Harbors, where he stopped at the Vanilla Bean Café, Castle Danger, Gooseberry Falls, Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, Temperance River, Tofte, and finally, Grand Marais, where he paused.

Smiling and anticipating.

To be continued…
