Previously: Wyatt asked if she’d pick him up as his car was at Farkleberry’s for maintenance.
Soon she was in her squad and on her way to pick up Wyatt, her mind running over what she had just learned.
Season 10—Chapter 1—A Murder in Danger Bay—Episode 7: An hour later Chris and Wyatt were at Silverthorne’s, waiting for the responder to arrive. Chris filled Wyatt in as to what she had done placing the ad. She was grateful for the internet where there could be quick responses.
Wyatt was enjoying her enthusiasm and looked at her with a slight grin on his face. He hoped this would lead somewhere because the search in the database was proving to be painfully slow.
They both looked up as a slight man with a derby hat appeared in the doorway. He was glancing around as if looking for someone. Chris walked over and asked “Are you Kauffman Roth?”
“Why yes I am and you must be Chris, pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” replied Chris, “Please, right this way. Marshal Earp would like to speak with you”
“Marshal Earp?” The man wondered to himself, “How interesting.”
They walked back to the table and Wyatt stood ready to extend his hand.
“May I introduce Kauffman Roth,” said Chris, “Mr. Roth this is Town Marshal and occasional Homicide Detective Wyatt Earp IV.”
“Please, just call me Kauffy,” Roth said, “Everyone does. Occasional homicide detective?”
“We very rarely have murders here,” Chris replied.
Wyatt looked the man up and down, remarking, “That’s an unusual name.”
“Yes, well I was named after Kenn Kauffman who in 1973 travelled 69,000 miles spending less than $1,000 and journaling about 671 species of birds. My parents were great admirers and were amateur birders for many years. I grew up watching for birds and have become quite passionate myself. Wyatt Earp? I recall watching a TV show about Wyatt Earp.”
“Yes,” Wyatt replied, “I have watched a few reruns myself, based very loosely on my great-great-grandfather. Chris tells me you may have a lead for us about the murder of Millie Gamboge.”
Kauffy reached for his briefcase and pulled out a photograph.
