Death Would Wait 10 Seconds More

Murder in Danger Bay BannerPreviously: “Stop and put your hands in the air,” Wyatt yelled, the man stopped and hesitated before turning around.

Wyatt recognized him immediately, “Hans Schwarzkopf, no one notified us you had been released from Sandstone, so I assume they will be glad to find out where you are.”

Hans just stared at him for a moment and drew back his jacket.  It was then that Wyatt noticed a gun strapped to his hip, cowboy style.

Season 10—Chapter 1—A Murder in Danger Bay—Episode 12:

Chris, get back!” Wyatt shouted.

Chris noticed tha Wyatt already had his hand positioned on the gun he wore and she prayed all was going to go well.  She recalled a song she once heard those lines said death would wait ten seconds more and now she knew the feeling.

Hans leaned a bit forward and said, “No one is taking me back to Sandstone—I  will never be locked up in a cell again.”

With that he grabbed for his gun, but had not cleared leather when a little round hole appeared on his chest. The bullet went clean through his heart.

Wyatt stood for a moment before walking over to check Hans for signs of life.  Wyatt had a sad look on his face and Chris knew he did not like to take a human life.  She was relieved that he was not hurt—except inside—and walked back out front to make a call, but Hiram bless him already had paramedics on the way.

Wyatt appeared and said,” Lets wrap this investigation up and head for Silverthorn’s Café—I could use a good cup of coffee.

Chris, Boomer, Big Mac, Susie, Larry, Sarah & Jay Cooper, Marshal Wyatt Earp IV, and US (Reservation) Marshal Hiram Silverthorn, Jr. were gathered at Silverthorn’s Café… “Well—THAT was exciting,” Hiram, Jr. summed-up what all were thinking, “Let’s just not make a habit of murders in Danger Bay.”

They were gathered at Silverthorn's Café

They were gathered at Silverthorn’s Café

The discussion of all that transpired—discovery of the crime—the investigation (something that Hiram had participated in as Reservation Police Lieutenant)—and the eventual resolution of, and learning that Hans Schwartzkopf was responsible for the murder of Millie Gamboge lasted until…

Thus ends Chapter 1. But our story? To be continued…
