Can She Go?

Previously: “Let’s go,” Sarah agreed.

Heading to Duluth, Sandra put her thoughts to words, “Do you think the State would let me be her foster Mom? I know I am single but I have a job and a roof over my head. I think Danger Bay is a great place to raise kids and I think you guys would reference me wouldn’t you?”

Chris and Sarah both bobbed their heads up and down.

“I think it is a great idea” said Sarah.   

As they pulled-up in front of the house, Sandra crossed her fingers and said a small prayer as they went to the front door.

A kindly looking woman greeted them, “How may I help you ladies?”

“We are here to take Mandy Riley to a new home,” said Sandra.

Will it happen? 

I hope so!

Season Eleven—Adventure 1—Family Ties—Episode 7… “I beg your pardon,” the kindly woman said, “Are you relatives? We searched everywhere we could think of and could not find any trace of a relative.”

“Are you relatives?”

“No, we are not, but I want to be her foster mom and take her home to Danger Bay with me.” Sandra replied.

“Well this is most unusual, I cannot just turn Mandy over to you, there are forms to fill out, and interviews to do it could take weeks!”

Sandra looked about ready to cry, “I do not want Mandy to stay here one minute longer. She needs to be with me where I can love her and help her get over the loss of her parents. Where she will have a stable home, weeks are not acceptable.”

Chris stepped forward, “Ma’am I can understand that you have paperwork and procedures. Sarah and I are US Marshals and both own stable businesses in Danger Bay. Sandra is an excellent Veterinarian so also has a stable job (she could not tell the woman she had an orphanage in the 1800’s, or that was where they were Marshals, the woman would think they were loony tunes). Is there no way we can do the paperwork and an interview now and take Mandy with us?”

The woman looked at all three of the girls and picked up the phone.

Two hours later she had everything she needed to take Mandy to Danger Bay (things like this can happen in our corner of cyberspace).  Now she had to go and talk to Mandy to see if she even wanted to go.

She went alone to see her. She was in the dorm like room small beds lined either side of the long room. 

There was no one else in the room when Sandra walked in. She had her back to her and she looked so small and alone. Sandra’s heart broke. 

“Mandy?”

“Mandy?”

Mandy turned to look at her confused at first and then her face lite up and she started running straight into Sandra’s open arms.

Will she want to go to Danger Bay?
