The conversation degenerated into “mob-talk” of the sort that has been a staple in most western movies and Tee-Vee shows with snippets of discernible sentences: “We need t’catch them Injuns an lynch ‘em.”

“C’mon fellers—let’s ride!”

“We can’t let-‘em git t’Williams Station.”

Intermingled with the unintelligible sound of angry voices speaking at once.

ALRIGHT—ALRIGHT—ALRIGHT!” Scruffy shouted, “Git yer guns out—we’re gonna ride them into the ground—LET’S GO!

Season Eleven—Adventure 2—Devil Track Trading—Episode 6:

“They’re coming—and they’re coming fast, Rider Boomer” Tall Brave (Pal) whinnied, “Get ready!”

Confrontation on the trail

“They’re coming—and they’re coming fast, Rider Boomer” Tall Brave (Pal) whinnied

Buttons on the right flank and Pepper on the left warned their human-companions as well.

Chris smiled, grimly, as she raised her Henry Rifle.

Sarah Cooper raised her Henry—reluctantly.

“For good or ill here it comes, Boomer,” Mac sighed, “I hate the killing-part of this job.”

“Tall Brave, my friend,” Thunderhoof whinnied, “Once again we’re called to war—let us show their horses what it means to be a warhorse!”

“Cry Havoc!” Tall Brave whinnied quoting Shakespeare, “And let slip the dogs of war!”

“But we’re HORSES!

“Honestly, you two,” Boomer chastised, “You have nothing to prove to us—but if you spoil a shot…”

“I’m just jerking your chain, human Boomer,” Thunderhoof replied.

“You mean to tell us you can’t shoot from a bucking-horse?” Tall Brave cracked, “Roy Rogers could.”

Some 100 yards ahead “those guys” rounded the bend—at the gallop. Boomer and Mac dropped the reigns and began firing—their mighty warhorses needed no goading and quickly charged the enemy.

Scruffy was the first to fall—followed by several others.

Our heroes on both the left and right flanks charged—their progress slowed by the trees—and I might add—the trees limited the accuracy of their rifles.

Just seconds later Mac, Boomer, Tall Brave and Thunderhoof were completely surrounded—the odds were ten to two—against.

To be continued…

    Oh, no!

Horse chatter might be distracting while aiming, but I’d be glad to have them with me in dangerous times!
