“What is this place?”

“Welcome Tiger Lily—I’ve been expecting you,” I replied.

“I remember you now. What happened to me?”

“You were very sick—and in much pain.”

“I remember. My humans brought me to Dr. Mark. He talked to me, and to them—and then—and then—I was no longer in pain. But, I was lost. I could not find my humans—why?”

“They remained behind—it was not their time.”

“Why can’t I see them—or the other humans who were in my life?”

“Because you are no longer of their world—you are part of my world.”

“Will I see them again?”

“Perhaps, one day.”

“When?”

“I don’t know. I wish I did.”

“Daisy? She tried to be my friend.”

“As did I—remember when we met?”

“I hissed at you from under the table—and you just cocked your head and smiled—just like you’re doing now.”

“Because you amused me. A year later I passed away and came here.”

“Where is ‘here’?”

“The Great Beyond—where all loved pets go.”

“I was loved?”

“You were! They cried when you left.”

“Daisy too?”

“No—she didn’t understand. She comforted Alpha Jack because she sensed he was sad. One day she will come here—and you will welcome her.”

“I hissed at you from under the table—and you just cocked your head and smiled….”

Is EXACTLY what happened when 10 week old Tiger Lily met Cujo. 🙂
