Previously: “Get ready fellas, but keep your guns out of sight until I give the order to fire.”
Linda and Maddock Farkleberry aboard Skeedaddle, after a maximum speed run from Danger Bay saw the two yachts in the distance, “Get ready to deploy the turret, Mr. Farkleberry.”
“Aye-aye, Ma’am, raisin’ th’ turret now—what’s our target?”
At the same time… Flutters spied a large number of vehicles on the highway, both north and south of Stanleyville. Travelling at high-speed.
All the set-pieces were coming together.
Adventure Seven—Gang Wars!—Episode Nine… Flutters reported, “Master says there are two columns of vehicles rapidly approaching Stanleyville from the north and south, Mr. Boomer!”
“Roger that Flutters,” Boomer replied, “Thank the ‘Master’ for me, please!”
“What just happened here?” Yatters cracked-wise, “You let the birdbrain get by with the ‘Master’ crap?”
“Deal with it, Canuck!” Boomer laughed, “Okay gang—move out—we have a gang-war to end!”
Merle McIntyre knew how much both Colonel Boomer & Lt. Colonel Yatters detested gunplay, “Weapons-free?”
Boomer sighed, “Yes.”
Yatters quipped, “Of ALL the times Chris isn’t with us.”
“She just might have such an opportunity. She should be aboard the McOsker yacht.”
I reckon—GENTLE READER—you’d like to find out—
MEANWHILE—aboard the McOsker Yacht…
“Yacht approaching, probably Minicucci! Get ready to fire!” Boss McOsker ordered.
Cahan Brannock raised his Thompson submachine gun, and Chris shouted, “Don’t!”
Brannock, however, was loyal to Minicucci—the aforementioned spy—he turned towards Chris—too late!
The slow “rat-tat-tat” of Shouse’s Thompson put an end to Brannock’s attempt to shoot—and Brannock!
“Why?” Boss McOsker exclaimed, “He came here from 1934 with us—HE WAS ONE OF US!”
Too late they noticed Skeedaddle arrive off Eagle Point…
Meanwhile—Down in the ‘Cities…
The Cooper and the McIntyres had completed their shopping—with no further excitement—until shortly after arriving home at the condo.
“I just got an alarm—I mean IRL me just got an alarm from IRL Boomer’s place. We cover each other; well mostly he covers IRL me—because we’re on the road so much,” Mac looked concerned, “Let’s head over there and take a look.”
They arrived at Boomer’s. Mac found the cleverly hidden lockbox and then opened the door.
Mac had the others remain in the living room, he checked the house.
Moments later he returned, “Boomer’s computer is missing.”
Sarah immediately knew what this meant, “We may never get home to Danger Bay!”
“Why?” Jay asked.
“We are ALL in that computer, with it gone—we will simply cease to exist!”
To be continued…
