Previously: Soon—Flutters caught up with Big Mac and Boomer…
“Master says to make all haste to Danger Bay—where you will find Almonzo Slater and as many as 100 of his men.”
“The Brown and White is fine and acquitted herself well in battle. Master says to hurry!”
“We’ll stay on this road, it’s the fastest route to Danger Bay,” Mac turned to Thunderhoof, “Correct?”
“Yes,” his horse Thunderhoof, replied, “Follow me!”
Karl McIntyre didn’t seem surprised by the talking-horse, “So—my horse isn’t the only one.”
THAT surprised both Mac and Boomer.
Lacrosse whinnied, “I am amazed you humans didn’t notice…”
“They’re a little dense sometimes,” Pal whinnied in reply, “They’re only humans.”
Adventure Ten—Searching for Almonzo—Episode 8… They met on the road leading to Danger Bay—and Boomer rushed directly to Silas, “Hello, Great-Grandfather—I’m really sorry about Jane-Elizabeth—how’s Grandfather Odessa?”
“You’re delusional—he’s only seven years old! Who told you about him and Jane?”
“And Louella Ermina?” Boomer grinned, “And Great-Great-Grandfather Timothy?”
“How do you know these things?”
“Perhaps I can help,” a doggish voice said seconds before Cujo appeared, “Silas Boardman, this man is indeed your Great-Grandson—and you are not supposed to be here. But since you are, I will allow you, and you Karl McIntyre, to finish what has begun here. You will remember this, I’m afraid, but you both would be wise to not reveal what has—and will happen. Just remember how well your descendants acquit themselves—and how well you acquit yourselves.”
“If that don’t beat all—we can’t speak of this less folks think we be daft,” Silas smiled, “A pleasure to meet you, great-grandson.”
Karl McIntyre just grinned at Big Mac & Merle—he’d already accepted them as his descendants—they simply looked too much like him—just taller—and he wondered how that happened. Truth is, his future bride stood six feet tall.
MEANWHILE—Chris, Linda, Merle, the dog & wolf-people… were cautiously following Slater’s bunch—too outnumbered to try again to take them on—and satisfied with the damage they’d already inflicted.
That is—until Cujo appeared, “There is a trail about a mile ahead—turn left on that trail—it will allow you to get to Danger Bay ahead of Slater and meet-up with the rest of your friends.”
“What trail?” Chris asked, “I know this area and I know of no such trail.”
“Trust me—you will find a trail,” Cujo grinned—and was gone.
“You know my big sister wouldn’t lead you astray?”
“I do, Daisy. She can be so mysterious.”
To be continued…
