The Big Wedding

Return to Fort Justice Banner Previously: “The inlet between the Blue Swallow Motel and Boomer’s place. It seems that both grooms-to-be proposed there.”

“Ah—and forever after to be known as ‘Proposal Inlet,’ right?” Chris cracked-wise.

She was right, of course. She just didn’t know it yet—but she just named the beautiful little bay.

A few minutes later, Paul returned from checking out his quarters, “I didn’t expect so much room. What is the rent?”

“We’ll discuss that later—after you’ve had a chance to establish yourself here,” Mac replied, “What manner of employment appeals?”

“I could imagine running an English-style pub,” Paul replied, “Other than the fact I might drink the profits…”

Season 12—Adventure 2—Return to Fort Justice—Episode 1… At Silverthorn’s Café… The wedding was scheduled for a Monday (because of the time-travelers being gone on weekends) Sandra and Gypsy, both relatively new to Moosehead County, had no idea who they could get to officiate at their wedding. Gypsy had just asked Kiwi to serve as her Matron of Honor and of course, Kiwi agreed, “One thing more, we need someone to perform the wedding, do you know who we could get?”

Kiwi grinned, “Hiram would be honored to officiate.”

“Hiram would be honored to officiate.”

“He can do it?”

“He is licensed as a Justice of the Peace by Moosehead County, and the State of Minnesota. Please forgive me for not mentioning it sooner.”

On that special Monday, just as the moon was rising over the lake… There was great anticipation and excitement around the event that was about to happen. It seemed almost everyone from Forest City and Danger Bay were in attendance.

Everything was just beautiful and the moon and lake made it magical.

Everything was just beautiful and the moon and lake made it magical. Sandra had wanted an Ojibwe Ceremony which had thrilled Jimmy’s family and the whole reservation.

Gypsy and Liam thought it was a wonderful idea since Billy Black Cloud was best man and Kiwi was Matron of Honor.

Mandy was taking her part very seriously and since there was no flower girl she had already put rose petals down the path both brides would walk (Mandy also made special notice of young Medlar Farkleberry, IV, serving as the second ring-bearer).

Sunshine and Puddles were bouncing around a having a ball…the older dogs looked at them with smiles.

Puddles was Liam and Gypsy’s puppy and turns out he was also sentient—both Gypsy and Liam could speak with the pup—much to their surprise.  Puddles had become Gypsy’s shadow and was never far from her side even at the Casino—this his gave Liam a wonderful sense of protection for Gypsy.

WolvenKing Heammawihio-Wakonda (Ringo) and Kuckunniwi-Ogimaa (Cujo) were there—casting no shadow—and Heammawihio-Wakonda (Karma BigFeathers) and Flutters performed a fly-by.

The WolvenKnights-of-the-Realm remained barely visible in the forest—if you looked close—GENTLE READER—you just might see the faint glow of their yellow eyes—they were providing security.

The wedding went off without a hitch—But sadly—we cannot share the sacred words spoken by Ahanu-Ahiga (Hiram, Sr.).

Hiram senior’s final duty was to invite all to the wedding reception at the Historic Air Force hangar.

A relatively short-time later—at the hangar… After such a beautiful ceremony everyone in attendance was in great spirits as they headed off for the lavish reception at the “Historic Air Force Hangar.”

While the guests and some members of the wedding party were lined up at the serving tables at the back of the hanger, the brides & grooms lingered outside for a few minutes—savoring the moment, when the Coopers, McIntyres, Linda, Chris and Boomer arrived—all a bit tired from their time in 1873—but excited to be there.

Sarah was the first in line with Jay in tow to congratulate and hug both Sandra and Gypsy, “You are going to love married life—aren’t they Jay?”

Jay smiled and kissed Sarah’s head, “Wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“I didn’t see you, Chris—did you guys make the wedding?”

“Oh YES, Sandra—it was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen.”

“Thank you so much, both for attending the wedding, and all you’ve done to help us.”

After a few minutes of getting-to-know-you-better-conversation, everyone went inside to eat.

The music was wonderful and there were couples twirling about the floor.

The Brown Ale was flowing freely. Carl and Collie were standing with Chris and Wyatt.

Collie asked with an innocent look on her face, she was looking straight at Chris, “Are there any more wedding bells coming soon? We could use more parties like this.”

Chris turned bright red and Wyatt started playing with his mustache.

Carl saved the day, “Yes this is quite the party c’mon Collie let’s go cut a rug.”

Linda was out dancing with Ralph (Cujo brought him from the Real World just for this event). She looked as if she was having a great time and was talking Ralph’s ear off.

Boomer was really enjoying his Brown Ale and was in deep conversation Hiram and Billy Black Cloud.

When the two couples came out on the floor to dance everyone circled them and the smiles and good cheer could be seen and felt in the hanger.

By the time the party broke up everyone agreed they needed to have more parties like this.

To be continued…

You would have to ask Wyatt but the mustache pulling is always a give away that he is either nervous or deep in contemplation. In this case could be either. The pictures turned out beautiful Jack..you did the story proud. 🙂

  5. Well just about everything perfect here I reckon, the artwork conveys the story wonderfully, in fact enough to write ‘and they all lived happily ever after’ RIGHT?
