I have news from Mac

Return to Fort Justice BannerPreviously: She thought about the French soap she had purchased when she was last in a town, along with some stuff to wash her hair that smelled good too.  A girl has to feel like a girl sometimes.

“Which one shall I choose for this night’s dalliance?” Lacy smiled to herself with wicked anticipation. She was feeling a bit tingly in the saddle.

Meanwhile—Flutters found Colonel Cooper… “I’ve been expecting you, Deputy Flutters!”

“Greetings from Marshal McIntyre, Colonel,” Flutters replied, “Our orders?”

“First, I need to know the threat we are facing. As you can see, I’m a little short of troopers.”

“We know there is a huge number of outlaws headed for Fort Justice, we estimate over a hundred. We think they’re nearing the border with Colorado by now.”

“Oh,” Cooper grinned, “Is that all?”

Season 12—Adventure 2—Return to Fort Justice—Episode 8… “Orders, sir?”

“Have Mac meet me at Adelbert Simpson’s mine please, Flutters,” Lt. Col. Phineas Cooper instructed, “There is something there I want him to see.”

Flutters found Col Cooper

“What is it?”

“What is it?”

“If I tell you, Deputy Flutters, it won’t be a surprise—right?”

“True—I’m a reconnaissance-bird—I tell all,” Flutters said as he flew away.

Flutters knew where to find Big Mac and he wasted no time flying directly to him—about ten minutes later, “I can’t tell you what it is—even the Master beyond the Mountains Blue hasn’t a clue—but I can tell you where to meet him.”

“Bad rhyme, Flutters, BAD RHYME,” Mac rumbled as the bird landed on Thunderhoof’s head.

“Dig those talons into my head and you’re dinner for the wolves,” he whinnied.

“No worries—I just had a pedicure before we left,” Flutters replied, “Mac—Lt. Col. Cooper wants you to head for Simpson’s mine. He has something to show you.”

“Cooper is a wise man. Very-well folks—you heard the bird—let’s ride. Flutters? Let Boomer know, and then check-in with Chris.”

Speaking of Chris—and by the obvious extension—Sarah and Jay Cooper… were all in the town marshal’s office—after walking through the entire town—stopping and chatting with the residents, and came away feeling the hopelessness of many, if not most, of the prospectors.

People who gave-up everything for the lure of silver—only to find nothing. The odds of finding a silver-streak are pretty-slim. Especially if one doesn’t know how to look for it.

They couldn’t help but feel sorry for those deeply disappointed folks who now had nowhere else to go—and no way to get there.

The mood of the marshals brightened instantly with the arrival of Deputy Flutters, “Looks like you guys have been having a party—with all those happy faces.”

“We were just waiting for you to arrive, Flutters,” Jay grinned, “What’s a party without a carrier pigeon present?”

“Fun?” Pepper muttered quietly to Buttons, causing her to laugh out loud.

“I can see my arrival made your day, Buttons,” Flutters misjudged her laugh (of course), “I have news from Mac.”

I have news from Mac

“I have news from Mac.”

To be continued…

I am very curious as to what is at the mine! Are we laying a trap for poor Lacy? Too bad we can’t alter history just a bit and give a class on what to look for so some of these people can get enough money to do what they want!
