PREVIOUSLY: “Well,” James beamed, “We can certainly help you. My name is James Shouse, and this fellow is my son Dalton. Dalton is the chief accountant with the bank.”
Just as they were about to go in the bank, a young woman walked-up—a young woman who was the spittin’ image of Lacy Dalton (I’m cheating—GENTLE READER—I was too lazy to draw another image), “Dalton, don’t forget we have a lunch date.”
“Ah,” James Shouse smiled, “You two young folks go on to your lunch, I’ll take care of opening an account for these ladies.”
Neither Chris nor Sarah could say a word—so stunned they were by the young woman’s resemblance to Lacy Dalton. They were quiet as James Shouse led them inside the bank.
Could this young lady be the one for Dalton?
Lakeview City Story—In Search Of—Episode 7… Chris and Sarah opened a savings account with the bank, and after set about finding lodging in Great Bend.
MEANWHILE—At their cabin overlooking Lakeview City… Linda somehow managed not to burst-out laughing over her phony “Raynch speech,” and got right down to business, “Let’s see if AJ has your truck ready, and if so, split up and see what we can learn around town.”
“You seem to be forgetting which one of us is the Chief-Deputy here…”
“Okay, sorry,” Linda replied, “What are your orders—SIR?”
“Let’s see if AJ has my truck ready, and if so, split up and see what we can learn around town and surrounding area.”
“What then?”
“Maybe have you snoop around town at the various businesses in your ‘wife’ persona, and see what you can find out. I’ll head north out of town—I believe Historic 61 runs along the lake, and maybe I can view the small boat harbor from there. I expect to find our new neighbor’s steam yacht there.”
“That should work—if and only if I can resist laughing at my Raynch-accent.”
Linda managed to pull-off her assignment without degenerating into gales of laughter—and learned little about their neighbors. Linda learned they got supplies weekly at Johnson’s Supply, but little else.
With Boomer heading north, Linda decided to head south out of town—she was certain that the gang’s male members simply could not resist finding a place they could hang-out without their respective wives.
They got supplies weekly at Johnson’s Supply
She drove about five miles outside of town where Historic 61 meanders down close to the lake and too late, noticed a bar on the lakeside.
She turned around, taking two or three passes to do so—that big Buick doesn’t exactly turn on a dime, y’know. She parked in front of O’Donnell’s Bar.
Too late she recognized two men inside.
