The Codgers™

“Yup,” Jay Merton replied, “And so, I understand, is Medford Ambrose.”

“How about Harold Peterson?” Boomer asked, “And Fred Jaworski?”

“All of the Original Codgers™!” Jay exclaimed, “Mac will be placing illustration requests.”

“No need, Jay,” Mac rumbled, “You just did. In addition, you’ll have to make a new ‘Codger Lodge’ for Jay, Med, Harold and Fred.”

“There’s plenty of room in the Cabin-on-the-Rock, Carl,” Boomer laughed, “You can share.”

“Hold on,” Jay interrupted, “We have our own plans already; we’re going to live in Lakeview City and run a lake tour operation. With a little luck, I suspect a couple of cabins in the bluff will become available. If you make that happen, Boomer.”

“You could move into the cabin located at Hidden Cove, and base your boat there.”

“No harm in checking the cabin out, I guess.”

“This is wonderful,” Sarah beamed, “The ‘Codgers’ have returned!”

Season 13—Adventure 3—Codgers Return—Episode 1—Scene 1… Inside Silverthorn’s Café…

Boomer and Sarah entered the Café first, followed closely by the Codgers™. It had been years since either Hiram and Kiwi Silverthorn had seen the Codgers™. Slowly, recognition came first to their faces; and then to their words.

“Wow!” Hiram exclaimed, “How long has it been?”

“2007,” Jay replied, “We haven’t done much since our RW counterparts passed into The Great Beyond. Carl McIntyre asked Cujo to allow us to return as cyber-characters; she readily agreed, and apologized for the oversight.”

“Almost nine years since we saw you; to be almost precise,” Medford Ambrose added, a civil engineer during his working years, Ambrose cared a lot about precision; sometimes to the point of obnoxious. This time, it was wry comment, so precision wasn’t his goal.

“Sarah suggested we stop here first,” Harold explained, “Knowing of our love for fine organically & shade-grown, fair-trade, French Roast coffee; which we last enjoyed here in 2007; we simply had to agree.”

“Are you planning on settling here in Danger Bay?” Kiwi asked, “We’d love to have you.”

“We thought about it,” Jay replied, “But our former waitress; now boat captain Molly Halloran operates out of Danger Bay Harbor, right?”

“Yes, she does,” Kiwi replied, “In fact, she’s on an extended tour now; she’ll not return for two weeks.”

“That’s disappointing,” Jay said, “We’ll be basing our operation out of Lakeview City, so as to not compete directly with Molly. Our tour boat is scheduled to arrive here today.”

“Have you found a place?”

“Not certain, yet Hiram, But Boomer has a cabin for us to look at.”

“Yup!” Boomer added, “We actually have two cabins, Captain One-Eye Farkleberry rents one and a second larger cabin next door.”

“Now THAT’S interesting, a Farkleberry we haven’t met.”

Give it some time, I’ll try to give some of the back-story. A lot of the Codger-story was on the old “Active Rain” website; I no longer have access to that site.

These Codgers are our approximation of LEGEND!
