A half-hour later they were on the train

“…Led us down the path,” Bambi finished Gina’s thought, “We’ve been properly had!”

“Where’s Aleeve?”

“In town getting supplies,” Gina replied, “He should be back soon.”

“Good,” Gina smiled, “We have an assassination to plan.”

Season 13—Adventure 3—Codgers Return—Episode 3—Scene 1… At the Apoloni-DeSantino cabin… Gina and Bambi were joined (by the now reformed) Aleeve McOsker, “So, what’s the plan?”

“We’re still working on that,” Gina replied, “Were you able to find some reliable ‘hired help,’ yet?”

“With ‘reliable’ as a requirement; in a word, no,” he replied, “The word on the street is that new sheriff is going to spend time here.”

“We might have to do it ourselves,” Bambi mused, “It’s payback time.”

“I have a better plan,” Gina said, “The only evidence is here. We’ll leave after burning all evidence here in the cabin and change our appearance, completely, and take the Streamliner down to the Twin Cities and lay low for a few weeks. Then, we head for Chicago, where we should be able to find some, how shall I say this? Reliable operatives; unknown in Minnesota.”

Both Aleeve and Bambi agreed. A half-hour later they were on the train.

Episode 3—Scene 2… AJ arrived with Boomer’s boat…In Hidden Cove…

“Here he comes now,” Jay announced, “I’ve not met him, is he anything like you?”

“A combination of his mom and me,” Boomer grinned, “Better looking than me.”

“Stronger, too,” Mac cracked, “He can pick me off the ground and turn me into a bar bell.”

Moments later AJ docked the boat and joined the party. He did a double take when he saw Medford, “Grampa!”

“No, sonny,” Medford grinned, “Although I could do worse; I’m patterned after your grandfather. His given name plus the name of the town he grew-up near; Medford, Minnesota. How is he doing?”

“Not well, but he’s a tough old coot.”

“What would he say if he heard you call him that?”

“He would say ‘Damn right I am!’ and grin,” Andrew replied, “I know this because we’ve had that conversation.”

“Okay, I’m on my way,” Boomer replied to a radio message; turning to the others, he said, “I gotta go, there’s some trouble in town.”

“You need help?” Mac asked.

“No, Deputy Simpson is there; he needs the help.”
