“What’s plan, Ed?”

Cyber Café Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “I’ve been thinking,” Harold said, “We need to keep Boomer out of sight, right? How about sending him, along with Sarah Cooper and Chris Shouse and their dog-people down to Superior?”

“To do what?”

“Mac, friends of mine in Duluth tell me our subjects sold the warehouse.”

“Yes, I know.”

“But, they didn’t own the place; they leased it. I’m told they ‘sold’ it to a Chicago cartel. What do you think they will do when they figure that out?”

“I get your point,” Mac replied, “We’d better add Jay Cooper, and perhaps, Linda into the mix; we’ll need their guns. And I wouldn’t miss this assignment for any money.”

Season 13—Adventure 4—Cyber Café—Episode 5—Scene 1… Six hours later at Grandma’s in Canal Park… After taking several rooms at the Comfort Inn in Canal Park in Duluth, Jay & Sarah Cooper, Boomer, Chris, Linda and Mac decided a late lunch was in order. They really could take their time before visiting the Superior side of the harbor; it wasn’t going anywhere.

They were hungry and started their meal with French Onion Soup Gratinée* (Fresh-made French onion soup topped with toasted French bread and melted Swiss cheese,) $6.99; and went on from there.

During the course of their meal two men sat at a nearby table; and as seems to always be the case, talked in their outdoor voices, “Just like that, I lost my job at the warehouse.”

“That was a good job,” the other asked, “The new owners gave you all a big raise, right?”

“Yeah, turns-out they weren’t the owners.”

“Say what?”

“It’s true, the bastards who ran the warehouse didn’t own the warehouse. Some really dangerous-lookin’ guy in a fancy suit told us to get out; and that there weren’t no jobs there.”

There rest of their conversation has no bearing on our story; but rest assured our heroes had two more courses to complete their respective meals.

Episode 4—Scene 2… Two weeks earlier at the Superior warehouse… Edward Mariucci and Andrew French arrived to discuss the situation with the new “owner” of their warehouse, “What’s plan, Ed?”

“I’m not entirely sure how we’ll handle this, Andy,” Mariucci replied, “Did you remember to bring your gun?”

“Gun, Eddie?” French cracked, “Whatever for?”

“Convincing Andy, convincing; not necessarily killing.”

“There are other ways,” French flexed his massive arms.

“Those are an impressive… guns.”

Episode 4—Scene 3… At the Superior warehouse office… “Mister…” Mariucci said.

“Jones, Alphonso Jones,” Fonzie Jones replied, “How may I help you?”

I have a feeling, GENTLE READER, he won’t like the reply…
