“We heard you had died!”

“But,” Barb smiled, “We’d like you and your wives to attend the pre-opening open house Friday; a by invitation only event for our business owner neighbors.”

“Thank you,” Jay replied, “We’ll be there.”

“Any word on the sheriff’s murder,” Alan asked, “It’s kind of scary to have something like that to happen in a small town like this.”

“Nothing new,” Medford replied, “We got the ones who did the shooting, and they’re already safely housed at Stillwater Prison after pleading guilty at their arraignment.”

Jay thought he saw a fleeting look of relief flicker on Alan’s face.

He did.

Season 13—Adventure 4—Cyber Café—Episode 9—Scene 1… Downstairs at the Cyber Café… It was Friday afternoon, when we find Medford Ambrose entertaining the “dead” Sheriff Boomer, along with the recently arrived tugboat captains (the long absent from these pages) Merle McIntyre, along with Joey Jerkowitz, and Debra Wennen Miller.

The whole visit to Lakeview City had been McIntyre’s insistence; it had been a very-long time since he’d seen his older (and much better looking) brother Carl. He’d been away studying to become a tugboat master and was one of these three hired by Harbormaster Lyle “Cob” Pettigrew.

With an expansion, the actual Port of Danger Bay required three large tug boats to handle the increasing commercial traffic.

Before any conversation could really get going, Sheriff Boomer, who’d been hiding there while awaiting his planned surprise visit to the open house at the Lakeview Tavern noted the time; he had to leave, “It was great to see you again, Merle, and to meet you, Debra and Joey; but I have to surprise and arrest my “killers.”

Episode 9—Scene 1…At the Lakeview Tavern… The Codgers™, and CodgerWives™, were already at the Lakeview Tavern when Sheriff Boomer, with Daisy remaining outside for a few minutes, arrived.

“We heard you had died!” Mac exclaimed.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you,” Boomer, noted the shocked look on the hosts, “Rumors of my death are highly exaggerated.”

“That’s a relief,” Jay Merton cracked, “Now, perhaps, we can enlist you as a Codger™.”

“Thanks Jay,” Boomer laughed, “But I sort of like being a Codger™ Wannabe™!”

“I understand you’ve caught the people who shot you, correct?” Alan Smith asked.

“Yes,” Boomer grinned, “But not who ordered the hit.”

“Any ideas?”

“Yes. We’re certain the hit was ordered by the Apoloni-DeSantino gang; Aleev and Bambi McOsker and Gina DiSantino Minicucci.”

It was just then that Daisy entered the room, “AR-ROOO! AR-ROOO!

The look on the faces of the hosts—PRICELESS!
