“I’m sorry to disappoint you,” Boomer, noted the shocked look on the hosts, “Rumors of my death are highly exaggerated.”

“That’s a relief,” Jay Merton cracked, “Now, perhaps, we can enlist you as a Codger™.”

“Thanks Jay,” Boomer laughed, “But I sort of like being a Codger™ Wannabe™!”

“I understand you’ve caught the people who shot you, correct?” Alan Smith asked.

“Yes,” Boomer grinned, “But not who ordered the hit.”

“Any ideas?”

“Yes. We’re certain the hit was ordered by the Apoloni-DeSantino gang; Aleev and Bambi McOsker and Gina DiSantino Minicucci.”

It was just then that Daisy entered the room, “AR-ROOO! AR-ROOO!”

Season 13—Adventure 4—Cyber Café—Episode 10—Scene 1… At the Lakeview Tavern… “Nay, Aleev,” Sheriff Boomer grinned, “You and your ladies will be goin’ nowhere other than my jail.”

“My name’s Alan Smith, and we are not going anywhere with you!”

“That’s interesting,” Daisy spoke; stunning Smith and his cohorts, “You three smell just like Aleev and Bambi McOsker and Gina DiSantino Minicucci!” 

“We’re not going anywhere with you!” Bambi exclaimed as they bolted for the door.

Although they shouldn’t have been surprised; both Boomer and Daisy were both taken by surprise, “Daisy STAY!”

Boomer rushed outside just as a white Ford Focus slowed in front of the tavern with the passenger side window open.

Boomer caught a glimpse of the driver just as several gunshots rang out and the car quickly accelerated away.

The sheriff ran to where Aleev, Bambi and Gina had been and found all three lying beside their truck.

All three were dead.

Episode 10—Scene 2…Bluff Road over Lakeview City… Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Shouse heard the APB (all-points bulletin) as she and reserve canine deputies Buttons and Pepper were patrolling; doing their monthly service to Moosehead County, “Attention all police units, attention all police units; this Moosehead County Sheriff Boomer. Be advised there has been a drive-by shooting in front of the Lakeview Tavern. I repeat; there has been a drive-by shooting in front of the Lakeview Tavern. Be on the lookout for a white Ford Focus driven by a man who strongly resembles AJ Boardman!”

Chris wheeled around and saw the suspect car driving past Lakeview Auto Sales, “It can’t be Sheriff Boomer; can it; In the car and let’s go!”

Chris knew she could get to the intersection of the road they were on with Scenic Highway 61 before the Focus as she was much closer.

At least that was her hope.
