Season 13—Adventure 6—Back to Normal?— Episode 2—Scene 1… At Silverthorn’s Café… “So what did the kidnapper’s want?” Chris asked, “It seems they’re no longer around to answer.”

“It was never really clear to us,” Kiwi replied, “But they implied they were doing the bidding of someone they never identified.”

“I get the feeling,” Sheriff Boomer had sidled over to Hiram, Senior, “That there is more to this…”

“There is, but I almost hate to bring it up.”

“If we’re going to solve this—you need to do just that.”

“The Canadian branch of our greater Ojibwe Tribe has a new chairman who seems to think we should not have our own tribal council to run our affairs,” Hiram appeared uncomfortable discussing tribal matters, “I believe it is a scheme to take-over our assets. We are far more successful than they are.”

“Their reservation is a good bit larger than yours, right?”

“Exactly.”

“What is the opinion of your Council of Elders?”

“Nothing I’d care to say out loud—and too, it’s a physical impossibility.”

“They can go [CENSORED] themselves?” Boomer laughed, “What can we do to help?”

“Watch for First Nation people you don’t recognize.”

“Will do,” Boomer grinned, “What about the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) agents?”

“No trust,” Hiram replied, “I’d just as soon keep them out of this, if possible.”

“I have a couple of First Nation deputies who can help.”

“And I have a grandson who is looking for a career change.”

“Really? I thought his degree was in business management.”

“With a minor in law-enforcement—like his Uncle Hiram.”

“Send him to my office—Big A will start the processing.”

Back to Normal?—Episode 2—Scene 2…Two hours later… James Silverthorn arrived at the Moosehead County Jail where he was greeted by Chief Deputy Allen Simpson, “You must be Hiram’s grandson, Marshal Silverthorn called and warned me you were coming—you brought your college transcripts, I hope?”

“I did, Chief Deputy—and words from Marshal Silverthorn.”

“And…”

“If you don’t hire Jimmy, I’ll ban you from the entire reservation,” Silverthorn reluctantly replied.

“That would include ALL of Moosehead County—but it wouldn’t stop my paycheck. That sounds like a good deal to me.”

Simpson paused just long enough to see young Silverthorn’s face devolve into “Oh CRAP,” and added, “Welcome—rookie!”
