The Battle of Moosehead CR 65

Back to Normal Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Sergeant Eagle Talon dropped to the ground, badly wounded by two shotgun blasts.

Andy shot the two, mortally wounding both—but the rest sped off.

As Doc ran to the wounded deputy, Andy took-off after the big old Hudson station wagon.

“Karen!” McLean yelled, “Get paramedics!”

“Already called—on the way! How’s he doing?”

“What can I do, Doc?”

“Oh Linda!” Doc replied, “Put direct pressure on his chest wound—it will help him breathe.”

Moments later the rescue squad arrived, “Doc—are you going to ride with us?”

“I’ll go, Doc!” Linda exclaimed, “You get your gear and meet us at the hospital!”

“Linda will ride with you—I’ll meet you at the hospital.”

“You’re the boss, Doc, see you there!”

Back to Normal?—Episode 6—Scene 3… On a dirt road north of Moosehead City…

Jimmy Silverthorn was in pursuit—easily keeping-up with the slow, poor-handling old Hudson. He was too angry to be smart—he was, after all outnumbered 7:1 by the bad guys.

He’d be in deep trouble if they stopped.

They stopped.

Season 13—Adventure 7—Back to Normal?—Episode 7—Scene 1… “All available special deputies meet me at the intersection of Historic US 61, and CR 65.” Sheriff Boomer radioed, “I repeat—all available special deputies meet me at the intersection of Historic US 61 and CR 65. Please give me your ETA!”

“Cooper here—I’m alone and responding—ETA ten minutes!”

“Shouse here—Alone and five minutes out.”

“Halvorson here—Alone and ETA 12 minutes!”

“Thanks all—we’ll have to make-do! Jimmy Silverthorn is in pursuit of suspects in the attempted murder of Deputy Sheriff Sergeant Eagle Talon—he’s in extremely critical condition. There are seven or more fugitives. They’re driving a ’49 Hudson station wagon—maroon with wood sides.”

All three arrived within eight minutes of the call and were soon heading out Moosehead County Road 65 towards Deputy Silverthorn and the fugitives.

“They’ve stopped and are getting out—CRAP!” Silverthorn reported, “I’m gonna be a little busy for a while!”

“Wait for us Jim, we’re two minutes away!” Boomer replied.

Silverthorn did not reply.

Back to Normal?—Episode 7—Scene 2… Silverthorn blew right past the Hudson—instead of running or driving to safety—he put the Crown-Vic into a 180° spin.

When the car stopped, he jumped out using his squad as cover.

The fugitives opened fire with shotguns and semi-automatic assault-style rifles turning Silverthorn’s Crown Vic into Swiss cheese in seconds.

He returned fire using his standard-issue .45 caliber WWII era machine pistol—expertly firing three-round bursts.

The Battle of CR65 was soon over—all seven fugitives were down—three of them forever.
