“That’s right, all the tugs are gone…”

Every Day Danger Bay Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Probationary Deputy James Siverthorn, IV, walked over—smiling, “Hello, I’m Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Silverthorn—how may I help you?”

“Somebody stole my key—and I need to sell my motorcycle.”

“You say this is your motorcycle?”

“Yes,” he replied—but began to realize, slowly, that this just might not end well for him.

“Gee—y’know? that motorcycle was reported as stolen,” Jimmy said—feigning reluctance to share that little damning bit of evidence.

“Our work here is done,” Joey said as he & Debra prepared to leave, “Nice talking to you, fella.”

“Sir?” Jimmy grinned, “You must know the drill by now, I need to search and cuff you.”

“My wife’s gonna kill me.”

Season 13—Adventure 8—Every Day Danger Bay—Episode 4—Scene 1… At the Tin Shack Buffet… Sheriff Boomer and Lt Silverthorn arrived within seconds of one another, “Red-Wolf will be pleased to learn you’ve recovered his motorcycle, nephew.”

“I can take no credit for that, Uncle Hiram,” Jimmy replied, “It was a couple of bikers, Debra Wennen Miller and Joey Jerkowitz who determined the bike was stolen.”

“Ell-Tee,” Wyatt smiled, “Jimmy handled the suspect interview and arrest, perfectly—I think you should know that.”

“Thanks, Wyatt,” Lt. Silverthorn replied, “I wanted him to join my crew…”

“Yes, Uncle Hiram—but I didn’t want to hear any ‘favoritism’ claims—I want to make it on my own merits—or fail, as the case may be.”

“You do us proud, nephew—and you’re correct, those claims would have been made—sadly.”

“What do you think, Wyatt?” Boomer asked, “Is it time yet to end Jimmy’s probation?”

“Yes, without a doubt.”

“Jimmy?” Sheriff Boomer grinned, “Finish your shift with Wyatt today, and begin your assignment to the Danger Bay Sheriff’s Office in two days. Welcome Sheriff’s Deputy James Silverthorn, IV!”

Every Day Danger Bay—Episode 4—Scene 2… At the Tour Boat HQ… Melissa James had desk duty, and one of her assignments for the day was to contact all the tug boat captains and inform them their assignment had changed.

WHY?” you may ask, GENTLE READER, and I may just give you an answer—or not. Suffice it to say the original tug boat illustrations—DISAPPEARED (and that’s all I care to say about that)!

Imagine their surprise when Debra and Joey arrived just as Melissa was ending her call to Merle McIntyre, “That’s right, all the tugs are gone as they’re no longer required. Yes, that’s right—see you tomorrow.”

“What do you mean the tugs are gone?” Debra asked, “We just bought new motorcycles—how can pay for them—and our condos?”

You know, in Danger Bay you just have to accept that sometimes things (and people!) pop in and out of being. (But I’d have used quite a few swear words, myself.)
