County Attorney Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 13—Adventure 9—County Attorney—Episode 8—Scene 1… On Historic Highway 61… The Cook County sheriff’s deputies paid no attention to the car which passed them on Arrowhead Trail going the opposite direction—how could they have known the car had, just minutes before, been carjacked?

By the time they came across the carjack victims—the robbers were already out of the immediate area.

The robbers kept driving until they were back deep into Moosehead County—after all, who’d be looking for them so close to the robbery site—to count their loot, “Only 25 grand?”

“I told you Herbie, we shoulda waited until later in the day.”

“Shut up, Devon! If we’d hit the bank later, there would have been too many witnesses. There’s another branch just down the road—we can hit that one, if you don’t mind killing witnesses.”

County Attorney—Episode 8—Scene 2… In Danger Bay at about the same time… The fully recovered from his near-death wounds Chief Deputy Alan Eagle Talon along with Deputy James Silverthorn were doubled-up for patrol duties—in fact every sheriff’s squad was running with two deputies—in light of the bank robbery. Eagle Talon was the senior deputy on duty, so he assumed overall command of the day watch.

Silverthorn, for his good work had been personally assigned by Wyatt Earp to Earp’s ’49 Mercury squad, “Wanna drive, boss?”

“I love to, Jimmy, but I need to be available to respond to calls. Maybe I’ll drive when we’re headed back at end of watch.”

Their conversation was interrupted by… “Attention all units—attention all units—be on the lookout for a blue late-model blue Nissan Versa, Minnesota license number KDW-955. Last seen by Cook County deputies heading toward Minnesota Highway 61 on Cook County 16—Arrowhead Trail 30 minutes ago. This car is possibly driven by suspects in the robbery of Forest Bank of Forest City. Use extreme caution the suspects are presumed armed. Both about 5’9”, and wearing black biker-style leather jackets. I repeat, be on the lookout for a blue late-model blue Nissan Versa, Minnesota license number KDW-955. “Let’s head north on Historic 61,” Eagle Talon instructed Jimmy, and then keyed the mic, “We’re covering Historic 61, all other units cover MN-61 and Lakeview City and Moosehead City.”
