“Welcome to your new home, gentlemen”

In addition, we’ll throw in a half-month’s pay today if you accept the offer.”

“Dibs on Marshal,” Debra spoke first.

“Dibs on Chief Deputy,” Joey said quietly in defeat—cussing himself for his momentary consideration of the pay.

“That was easy, it’s good you are friends—no fighting.”

Joey mumbled under his breath.

“I didn’t hear that Joey.”

“I just said, ‘Yes, it is,’ Debra.”

Debra gave him a sharp jab in the ribs as soon as Silverthorn looked away.

“Maude Anderson has a rooming house just down the street, $25 a month including breakfast and supper.”

“Does she allow dogs?” Joey asked as he had a feeling that Mattie was nearby—just a feeling, mind you.

“Oh, of course—this isn’t the 21st Century!”

Season 13—Adventure 10—Episode 5, Scene 2… South Danger Bay… The marshals rode into town with their prisoners and stopped in front of the US Marshal’s office—which hadn’t been used since their last visit (it becomes invisible to 19th Century people when the time-travelers are away—no one notices.

“We’ll drop four off here,” Mac said, “Boomer, you and Jay remain here as we take the rest downtown to the City Marshal.”

“Welcome to your new home, gentlemen,” Boomer picked four for incarceration, “Deputy Cooper and I will see to your every need—except freedom, and women.”

Jay and Boomer escorted the four prisoners into the jail and after making sure they had no weapons of any kind, they placed them into the small cells.

Shortly thereafter, the brave talk began:

“You know, we ain’t gonna be here very long.”

“There’s way more of us than there are of you—you gonna die.”

“So, gentlemen,” Jay drawled, “Y’all have any requests for dinner?’

“We won’t be here for dinner.”

“Suit yourself,” Jay replied, “Do you want to grab some grub, boss?”

“Go ahead, Jay—I’ll just stay here and hassle these badass bandits.”

“Aw c’mon—MUST you?”

“Yup!”

“You are a dead man—old man!”

“No one lives forever, including you,” Boomer laughed, “Your immediate future depends on how you answer our questions.”

“We ain’t answering no questions.”

“Oh good, I can’t wait to hear your answers to the questions we do ask.”

“Huh?” the double-negative spewing prisoner asked.
