Season 13—Adventure 11—Deadwood! Episode 4—Scene 1… Ten miles outside of Deadwood… It had been decided that Jimmy Hickok would find the wagon hauling the gold—as a Stagecoach would appear far less threatening to the guards than a bunch of heavily armed riders.
After a brief conversation with the guards Hickok dropped back behind the gold wagon.
He didn’t hear her ride up beside the coach until, “Jimmy Hickok—as I live and breathe!”
“Jimmy Hickok—as I live and breathe!”
“Martha Jane Canary!” a startled (and embarrassed) Hickok exclaimed, “Or should I call you Lacy Dalton Shouse?”
“Calamity will do,” Lacy laughed.
“What about your husband?”
“I’m still happily married—and six-months pregnant.”
“But—you don’t LOOK pregnant.”
“This me is not pregnant,” Lacy laughed again.
“Cujo,” She replied, “I knew Chris, Sarah and the rest time-traveled, so I figured maybe I could as well—if I asked.”
“Yes. Not only in this century; but in the 21st Century as well.”
“Really,” Jimmy replied, “How will that be explained?”
“As Lacy Dalton,” she grinned, “Only the time travelers will know my history. I’ll be hired to run a storage facility. I’ll be from St. Joseph, Missouri.”
“The truth works well.”
“I was briefed by Cujo about the situation. What’s the plan?”
“Our riders are following along through the forest on the other side of the tracks—their sentient horses can negotiate the terrain just as quickly as the wagon in front of us,” Jimmy explained, “And we have a sentient carrier pigeon seeking the expected attackers.”
Deadwood! Episode 4—Scene 2… Ten miles outside of Deadwood… Flutters found the outlaws riding directly towards the gold shipment. He quickly flew to the dog-people and told them of his finding, “Master says eleven outlaws about fifteen minutes away from our people!”
“What do YOU say, birdbrain?” Daisy teased.
“What do YOU say, birdbrain?”
“Oh—you know, the same. Who am I to question the Master?”
“Just check the road behind the wagons!” Pepper laughed, “We’ll tell our humans.”
Flutters flew-off at pigeon-warp-speed while the dogs raced to their people.
“Eleven,” Kai-Braveheart observed, “Almost an even match, we have ten riders plus Hickok, Williams, and the wagon guards.”
“True,” Buttons agreed, “But Flutters may find more coming from behind—we’d best hustle to our people.”
“Pepper and I will continue to cover this flank,” Daisy arfed, “We’ll head towards where Flutters is searching now.”
“You think he’ll find anyone?” Kai asked.
