“I went to a cabin party…”

Arrival Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 14—Adventure 1—Arrival—Episode 6—Scene 1… Party at the Cabin-on-the-Rock… As Mac and Boomer entered the cabin, Boomer had a variation of the Rick Nelson song playing in his mind, “I went to a cabin party to reminisce with my old friends…” It was, of course, involuntary—His mind sometimes works that way.

At least it works—after a fashion.

Mac rumbled, “Welcome to this gathering of the Rootin-Tootinist Gunslingin’ Time-Travelin’ Bunch of Law-Enforcement Posse Badasses ever assembled!”

“Or as shortened for convenience, ‘the Rootin-Tootinist Posse’ ever assembled!” Boomer added, “And our newest inductees, Debra, Joey, and Lacy!”

“Wait,” Buffalo Bill Cody, III, asked, “What about me?”

“And your return to this blog, William Frederick Cody, III—you’ve been gone too long!”

And with that—GENTLE READER—the attendees broke into smaller, ever-changing conversational groups—just like every gathering I’ve attended.

“Remember the time we were at Fort Defiance…”

“And then he said to me…”

“Y’know—I’ve got to get a haircut.”

“Why? You haven’t got much atop your head.”

Boomer, Mac, and Lacy were chatting out on the deck overlooking Danger Bay, “You know? I think I must get a car for when I’m here. Traveling by car from St. Joe is going to get old—very quickly.”

“You won’t be traveling by car again,” Mac replied, “Cujo will summon you here—just as she summons us into the past.”

“With that in mind,” Boomer added, “I just happen to have a surplus car I need to get rid of as I wish to have but three cars in our personal stable.”

“Although I can’t be too choosy, It’s not a junker—is it?”

“You may decide for yourself—The car is outside.”

Episode 6—Scene 2… Outside the Cabin-on-the-Rock… “This is Shadowfax, a 1967 Datsun 2000 with a number of performance & efficiency upgrades courtesy of Medlar Farkleberry,” Boomer explained, “And as I said, I simply had collected far too many vehicles. I’m keeping but three: My wife’s Focus, my ’56 Ford and Triumph TR6/8 (one-off V-8 experimental by Farkleberry).”

“Er—I don’t have a lot to spend.”

“Oh—I won’t sell it—I just need to get it out of my stable,” Boomer laughed, “It will be yours to use when you’re here.”

“Really?”

“We’ll keep it here,” Mac added, “As our place has become the arrival and departure location for the time-travelers.”

“Thank you so much!”
