“Why haven’t Hiram or Kiwi told us?”

Strykerville Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 14—Adventure 2—Strykerville—Episode 6—Scene 1… Moosehead County Road 65 Recovery… Sheriff’s Deputies Chris and Linda were the first to arrive and disturbed nothing as they photographed the scene from every possible angle, carefully dusted for prints, and bagged & tagged any other physical evidence they found.

Sheriff Boomer and Doc McLean arrived some twenty minutes later, and went about their duties—Doc examining the bodies and the sheriff interrogating his deputies.

Doc McLean & the sheriffs remained at the murder scene. The bodies of Oliver & Blanch Schmidt were in Doc’s medical examiner’s Cadillac hearse—he was about to take them to his clinic for a full autopsy.

The deputies also placed the evidence they’d gathered in the hearse—as Doc’s forensic assistant, Abby, would be tasked with examining the evidence in search of any clues that could lead to an arrest (does this sound familiar, GENTLE READER?).

“Well, Doc,” Chris asked, “What do you think?”

“I think you and Linda did an excellent job of preserving the scene and gathering evidence,” He grinned, “The killers were sloppy—way too sloppy—they left behind a great deal of evidence for us to work with. I’ll know more when Abby’s done her job and I’ve finished the autopsies.”

“How long?” Boomer asked, “And how do you know there was more than one?”

“Me! Me! I know!” Linda exclaimed, “Because Chris and I found multiple footprints.”

“And we made plaster casts—silly!” Chris added.

“I’ll know more in an hour or so, Boomer,” Doc replied, laughing with Linda & Chis, “Meet me at the hospital then.”

Doc drove off to work his magic.

Sheriff Boomer gave his deputies his best approximation of the “evil-eye,” and failed—miserably.

Episode 6—Scene 2… Outside Silverthorn’s Café… Meanwhile… Liam & Gypsy arrived at Silverthorn’s Café—they’d heard through the rumor-mill in Forest City that the Silverthorn’s Casino would be closing, and they were here to confront the Silverthorns.

Liam ran an honest casino—and still he knew the family was earning a huge profit.

Heck-he was earning a very-tidy sum, as was Gypsy as his operations officer.

“Why haven’t Hiram or Kiwi told us?”

“Maybe, Gyps,” Liam replied, “They’ve not yet made the decision.”

“You think?”
