“Too bad, Mac, you lose!”

He didn’t fly directly over them.

Nor did any of the other ‘copters. In fact, Sheriff Boomer reluctantly grounded the helicopters and thanked the Coast Guard for their assistance. Instead, the Rootin’-Tootin’ Posse would continue a ground search—one deputy per car to expand the patrol area. He told the posse to act as if they were no longer searching.

It was the best they could do under the circumstances. And too, that just might bring their quarry out in the open.

Mac suggested he and Sarah talk to AJ Boardman at the airfield to see about installing a look-down radar in his Night Lightning as that would allow them to see through the forest to the ground.

Episode 2—Scene 1… At the Airfield Office… “Let’s see if AJ managed to get that radar installed.”

“If anyone could,” Boomer grinned, “It would be Andrew.”

“Bets?” Mac asked.

“You’re on!”

They walked inside to find a widely smiling AJ.

“Too bad, Mac, you lose!”

“A bet I’m glad to lose,” Mac laughed, “What do you think, Sarah?”

“I think I need to see how it works—I’m rather fond of my original equipment eyes.”

“The radar is installed—in fact there are three,” AJ grinned, “Down, left and right search, with each able to send an alarm to you, Sarah, if anything metallic is discovered—they must have vehicles available.”

“That might give us contact-overload,” Sarah observed.

“You can set it for sensitivity—to only signal if multiple, meaning 4 or more vehicles, if you wish.”

“I wish.”

“I’ll go set that now. Then you can get airborne.”

“Perfect!”
