“Yes sir!”

Sheriffs Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 14—Adventure 3—Sheriffs—Episode 4—Scene 1… A week earlier at an Undisclosed Location… Sylvester Farenholt’s hired hit-squad:  Sam & Susie Jones, James & Henrietta Smith, Billy & Ann Fleming, Red & Mary Wilshire, Amos & Sara Anderson, Albert & Mary Simpson, Rob & Sally Ertle, and Rufus & Andre Pariseau gathered after checking into the various motels & hotels in and around Moosehead County, to meet the man who hired them—it would be the only time they would talk to Farenholt in person—or ever.

After receiving their orders—[no GENTLE READER, I was not privy to the conversation]—the couples discussed their orders. Before leaving they posed for a class picture.

One by one—the couples left the undisclosed location to make their way to the various hotels and motels.

Episode 4—Scene 2… Present day… At Farenholt’s hideout… “Make James and Larson disappear.”

“Really, Boss?” Chauncey Fensterwald asked, “Them fellers have worked hard for us.”

“If you call running around with automatic weapons, threatening businessmen and murdering old people,” Farenholt replied, “Then you’d better reconsider your employment with me. Understand this—you’ve been told to FIRE James and Larson.”

“Yes boss,” Fensterwald learned quickly, “Consider them fired.”

“Listen!” Hazard Wilcox exclaimed, “Helicopter flying low outside!”

“Walk outside, Wilcox, all casual-like and see how close it is—and wave a greeting.”

“Yes sir!”

Wilcox went outside and quickly discovered the chopper was not overflying the compound. He hung around for a while—hoping the chopper would come closer.

It didn’t. Pilot Lacey was collecting all the information via her look-down radar.

She radioed base with what she found.

Episode 4—Scene 3… About an hour later… At Farenholt’s hideout… Minnesota State Trooper Lt. Todd McCoy arrived outside and waited a moment before knocking.

Smiling, he knocked on the door.
