Season 14—Adventure 3—Sheriffs—Episode 9—Scene 1… It was a sad and somber procession—no one could quite handle the apparent suicide of the sheriff—they simply didn’t believe it was possible.
Sheriff Boomer just didn’t seem like the type of person who would do such a thing.
But—the evidence was overwhelming—Sheriff Boomer took his own life!
Sheriff Boomer took his own life!
Episode 9—Scene 2… on the Gravel Road… It was a sad and somber procession—all available highway patrol and sheriff’s squads accompanied the hearse and transporter away from the scene of Boomer’s apparent suicide.
The journey back to Moosehead City seemed to take much longer than it was. In each squad—tales were told. Everyone had an anecdote to share.
Episode 9—Scene 3… at Farenholt’s Cabin… “Wow, Boss,” Wilcox exclaimed, “You look different!”
“You look different!”
“I have business to attend to in Moosehead County and I want no one to recognize me,” He replied, “You fellas should pack for your vacations—your bonus money is in the desk, one envelope apiece. Grab your money, pack and get out-of-town.”
The boys retired to their cabin—after, of course, taking an envelope apiece, and began their vacation planning.
“Rocky Mountains for me!”
“Brainerd Lakes for me—FISHING!”
“Florida! For a little quality beach time!”
Episode 9—Scene 4… at the Meetingmoot… “Don’t anyone go anywhere,” Cujo said, tail a-wag, “I have a little surprise for you.”
Daisy already knew what the surprise would be—sisters can communicate without words—or barks. Her tail was quite busy wagging, as well.
“SURPRISE!” They heard a familiar voice exclaim a split-second before Boomer appeared, “We wanted you to be the first to know that I am, and have been alive and well right along.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Pepper was—shall we say—peeved?
“Dog-people simply can’t keep secrets—Daisy and I had all we could do to not blurt-out the truth. Feline-people CAN keep secrets—not us.”
“Alpha-Jack—you must leave—NOW!” Cujo insisted.
Episode 9—Scene 4… Wilcox and company’s cabin… Fensterwald, Smith, Wilcox and Larson were—how SHALL I say this—GENTLE READER—surprised?—when Boomer and his “Rootin-Tootin” Posse arrived seemingly from out of nowhere in their cabin.
“You’re ALIVE?” Wilcox could not believe his own original equipment eyes, “We killed you!”
“I’m not all that easy to kill…”
Thus, this Adventure ends. But our story? To be CONTINUED…
