“That horse can talk!”

Northtown Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 14—Adventure 5—Northtown—Episode 3—Scene 1… The Mean Streets of Southtown… “You see those fellas riding into town—they’re part of this storyline—you and I are not. We must leave, now!”

“But you said I had to make you my deputy.”

“True,” Boomer replied, “But not here, not now. It has to do with that space-time continuum I spoke of.”

“What about those fellas back in town?”

“Others have been tasked to deal with them.”

They rode in silence for many miles—Silas mulling all he’d been told, and shaking his head. It was a lot to process.

After twenty minutes or so, Silas was about to ask Boomer a question, just as a stagecoach passed-by at high-speed, “Whoa—that coach is in a hurry!”

“Indeed, Silas,” Boomer replied, “The passengers ARE the people who would most certainly be the ones to kill you—were you still the town marshal. The current town marshal has, perhaps, an hour left in his life.”

“That’s brutal—and so are you for letting that happen.”

“If I interfered, it would most certainly disrupt the time space continuum.”

They continued to ride for many, many hours—hours that became days.

Twenty days later, they arrived in 19th Century Danger Bay where they stopped at Silverthorn’s General Store.

Episode 3—Scene 2… Twenty days later… Danger Bay… Silverthorn’s General Store… “Great Grandfather, this is my friend James Silverthorn—James, this is Silas Boardman.”

“I don’t have any time for Injuns,” Silas snorted.

“Very pleased to meet you, Mr. Boardman,” James, seemingly unaffected by Silas’ insult, replied, “Any relative of Boomer’s is welcome here.”

“I’m not staying here, there must be a hotel in town.”

“We can find lodging for you,” James’ smile didn’t flicker, “We aren’t all that fussy about your pale skin tone.”

“What’s to stop me from riding out-of-town?”

“Your horse, Flossy,” Boomer laughed, “Go outside and ask her—she’ll tell you.”

BALDERDASH!” Silas exclaimed as he stormed outside—only to return five minutes later, “That horse can talk!”

And thus—GENTLE READER—Silas and Boomer leave this story. Silas becomes a new continuing character both in the 19th  and 21st Centuries…

It is always a shock to them when the animals can talk 🙂 Hope to get Buttons out of PAWZ soon. I am sure this PAWZ can not take as good of care of her as our PAWZ! 😦
